People have an obsession with being niche
It's okay to like popular things, some things get popular BEACUSE they're good, its like if you don't have niche taste in music or fashion or just about anything your gonna be called basic The amount of people I've met that get sad about the fact that, something they're into is getting popular beacuse they want it to stay niche, but that's not the point of doing things at all
I always lmao when people say "I used to be a fan of [insert media] but then [people I dislike] joined the fandom and ruined it" like guys, you are aware of the fact you can be a fan of something WITHOUT engaging with it's fandom, right?? 1 reply

I remember when I had 'niche' interests, I'd actually tell my friends all about them but of course since they'd just didn't wanna get into it I was like, okay i just won't talk about them ig. omg imo if you're favorite niche media getting popular its a boon! imagine the drought no more, lots of contents from the creator AND fellow fans to consume now ლ(´ڡ`ლ) reply
the only things I'm lwk scared of when my fav artists become popular are 1) they become washed or burned out bc they feel pressured to churn out shit faster and make it appeal to wider audiences 2) they become jaded or scarred bc fame is no joke even though poor people always think it's a blessed privilege with no downsides

I think it's lowk toxic. I've been there and I know this feeling so well because I was like this with Sabrina Carpenter. I've been a fan of her since I was 11 years old and now I'm 23 (ifeelold). It felt like I was discovering something people weren't aware of yet and it made me feel superior in a way. When she got popular I was a little bummed but...... reply
