Love Tropes rewriting
What’s one love trope you wish authors would write differently, and how would you change it?
Personally, I love enemies to lovers, but authors always seem to make it about mafia/yakuza or bullies. I want NORMAL characters who might even have been attracted to each other at first sight, but somehow keep bickering, getting on each other’s nerves, and clashing over everything.
I want to see that tension last for a while before they start falling for each other, not just have them go, “OMG, I might actually be in love with him/her!” after one argument. Like, let them be enemies for a little longer!
What about you guys? Whats trope do you want to change about?
Not talking about a trope specifically but manhwas are generic. I wish authors had more autonomy over their works and were mostly driven by inspiration like manga authors and not a studio that is just trying to pop out the new trendy recycled piece. If they did, I'm sure there would be amazing stories about everything from sports to a trans girl di...... reply
I love but also hate enemies to lovers. You cannot realistically have real enemies experience the moments of quiet heart to heart interaction that building realistic love requires. Every time I see enemies to lovers, the hate and dread is so mellowed out its more like highschoolers that got into an argument, even when their backstories are some kin...... 3 reply
CEO x Y/N trope or Cinderella trope, why can't both of them be poor or middle class why does one have to be so rich and the other so poor. I'd rather have two working individuals but still have time for each other trope 1 reply
I HATE stories where it's a mafia/yakuza leader/boss falls for a normal person. (Mainly in BLs) and the ML is described as obviously a ruthless leader but somehow the MC enters their life in the first chapter and they're immediately swooning. Not physically but suddenly they're no longer ruthless and let everything the MC does slide.
NO.

lol I actually have the complete opposite view on enemies to lovers trope XD no hate, just found it funny how people interpret things differently!
what OP describes in their post I would actually call rivals to lovers, not enemies to lovers. To me personally you're not enemies if you haven't tried to kill each other at least once! so I actually wi...... 2 reply
I love enemies to lovers too. I would love to see it taken in multiple different directions including your suggestion. I would like to see a couple that keeps fighting after getting together struggle with the stress mixed in with their attraction, I want to see more crazy x crazy where theyre out to kill each other at first and love the thrill. i wish authors showed more sides of mutual co dependency, or trauma bonding by not glorifying their trauma rather showing side effects of it and how both try to overcome to best of their abilities.... slowly realising how to love themselves and their other half without chaining each other down reply
