I'm always down for new and different approaches in a genre filled with cliches and formulaic stories, so I support your grievance in principle. thinking it over, I think most of the stories I've read and liked gave input from both characters even if it's primarily from the pov of one character. that said, this is a real rabbit hole of a question........   reply

so far back that I don't remember exactly, but for anime, it was something I had to have watched in parts on yt around 2005-07, so it could be one of these: papa to kiss in the dark, gakuen heaven, yami no matsuei, sukisho and maaaybe gravitation.
