In my opinion, it's not that it's written by women for women, but rather because of the very fact that it's written for entertainment purposes, and not to reflect reality that it's incredibly unrealistic. Japanese people make manga for Japanese people to read, and yet we still get unrealistic school-life harems filled with yanderes, extreme tsunder...... reply
I dropped a lot of mangas and webtoons because I didn't like the maincharacter(s), some because I just couldn't read anymore because I didn't like the art, sometimes I'm just not in the mood for a particular manga/webtoon and just I stop reading it for months lol... It may be due to that, yaoi manga has made you see differently gay relationships. You already have that image of two romantic and perfect looking guys and when you see it "irl" their face, bodies and such are not that perfect as you expected them to be. I believe it is normal, but for someone that has trouble separating reality from fiction.
