Okay, I have a feeling this message is targeted to me due to my earlier comment, so I'll reply with a more logical take.
I acknowledge where you're coming from and I do agree with you TO AN EXTENT.
People are free to read what they want on this site, but a comment section is a public forum for reactions. It's not a curated fan club where only appreciation and positivity is allowed. Especially if a story glorifies themes like incest and rape, it is naturally going to elicit a visceral reaction from people. You can’t post or support extreme content and then act shocked when the response is also extreme!! People are free to comment as much positivity as negativity, especially if the comments are criticism towards inherently negative media.
As for the comparison to true crime, this can't function here and I've seen this argument be recycle OVER AND OVER again. It gets boring...
People watch true crime to witness a tragedy or understand a crime especially since it deals with representation, which is different to people 'shipping' a victim with a perpetrator or trying to humorizing crime.
The real issue here isn't JUST the content. it’s the intellectual dishonesty of readers who try to mislead others by claiming this 'isn't actually' incest when it clearly is!!
Calling out a harmful dynamic for what it is isn't 'policing' or being an 'edgelord', it’s literally just stating a fact and for some reason people take it so personally If you want a space where no one ever challenges the ethics of what you're reading, a public comment section isn't the place for it. Especially not the comment section of objectively fucked up manhwas lol
And it's fine to enjoy degenerate media especially when you acknowledge it for what it is and have CLEAR boundaries about how it shapes your mindset. But, you can't, with that logic, equate desensitization to a 'slippery slope' analogy, OR pretend like other people don't associate this type of media at a personal level. Either way, recognizing that what you're not normal doesn't make what you're doing 'right' (this is what you're implying)
Fr I'm fucking sick and tired of those polices , especially in late Yaoi community fuckasses be spewing shits like they got nothing else to read , ffs . Exploring in yaoi genre and bullshitting how they got morals more than anyone in this community. They fucking should be reading sunshine lolipop and rainbow in shonen or seinen whatever.
fr, you cant find any story without the moral police coming acting like everything you read reflects your morale irl lol Shit like that is why media literacy is dying. Its especially irksome when the warning are in the summary itself and they still act surprised and scandalized as if they werent warned beforehand lol

this is a site for freaks of all kinds, so expect stories from all far ends of the spectrum. the fact that yall have an account here means you know what you signed up for getting into the site.
it pisses me off when people actively comment on pieces that don't agree with their own tastes, even shaming those who, unlike them, actually enjoy it. as if they have higher moral ground over interests in FICTION. ever heard of the back button? quietly closing the tab? ignoring things you don't like? why put yourself in spaces you don't even belong in?
get out of here if you don't like it. the comment section of a manga is a safe space for readers to discuss, appreciate, and share their reactions. it is NOT a space to police those who are here to have fun, and explore genres out of their own usual tastes. especially when we're all just here on this site to read what we like and discover new things.
gonna put my own thoughts on this before people start putting words in my mouth: i personally like reading freaky stuff, because it's fun and i have no personal attachment to characters/stories like this (i read it then forget about it). i see them as mere characters and not a reflection of my own personal values and desires. do you watch true crime documentaries because you enjoy people getting kidnapped and killed? no. you enjoy it for the experience as an audience and the thrill it gives. there are moods i get when i want to read something weird and freaky and completely out of the box, so it's not to say i exclusively read only these types. i am definitely not "normal" for actually reading them, but i am sane enough to acknowledge that these are unique tastes that not everyone can accept/understand. i just can't tolerate people being mean edgelords when they aren't even invited here.
