“Child abandonment is the willful desertion of a child by a parent or legal guardian without arranging for necessary care, supervision, or financial support, with the intent to permanently or indefinitely avoid parental responsibilities.”
It’s not really abandonment in Hyesung’s case, there was another parent (Dojin) and the fact he was raped + baby trapped matters way more, I don’t believe he wanted Byul and that’s okay. He didn’t dump Byul in a trash can or suffocate. Why shame victims for not wanting a kid that happened from a toxic environment/relationship?
Even though Hyesung didn’t want contact with his mother, readers still find a way to blame Hyesung as if he chose to be in the spotlight. Mind you his shitty husband was the one dragging it and not letting go of it. Dojin brought all this here, not Hyesung. But it’s still the victim's fault, right?
Byul isn’t the victim here, nor is Dojin. Someone tried to act like Byul being ‘abandoned’ was the worst thing while not mentioning the rape, and I am not undermining if Byul felt hurt. His feelings are valid. But let’s not act like it’s the same thing, one was left in care and the other was with an abuser.
It’s abusive for a mother to leave a growing kid with an abuser. Keyword: leaving kid with an abuser. The mother is an accomplice even if she didn’t mean it. She also ‘accidentally’ blamed Hyesung for not coming to find her. Ridiculous! She started a new family without frantic searching thar you’d expect of a parent who loves their kid. She was probably relieved to let go of burdens.
Right. If Dojin wasn’t good looking and rich, people wouldn’t look past the rape. I have seen the difference and it’s very telling. I understand if a minor thinks Dojin is nicer because they’re…young, but if a grown adult sided with Dojin, yikes. Imagine an uglier and balding salary man raping someone, nobody will forget the rape nor blame the victim.
And it’s fine to have preferences, but looks and wealth definitely plays a role in taking advantage of readers as well. I haven’t forgotten about Dojin’s friend (I forgot his name, Heeseo?) who hid him and used to also gaslight him, as if he was the bad guy/idiot.
Everyone forgot about what Dojin did to Hyesung. This story glazed it over and it’s obvious, yet some readers still blame Hyesung. It shows their immaturity and lack of self respect. What irritates me the most is how Dojin gave the granny a home + living expenses for all these years while Byul grew up. It’s about the same amount of years Hyesung had to fend for himself.
Hyesung can talk, he made the choice and I respect it [even though Dojin caused it] with the mother. It’s irritating how he has to come to her. It should be her trying to mend things if it has to be mended. The Author enjoys filial piety.
In my mind, Hyesung is going to the mother for his own peace. Not for anyone else, but for himself. It’s his history with the mother, nobody else’s. And has Dojin talked to the granny in the past? Has he ever reprimanded her for leaving Hyesung behind, or is it just sympathizing with her? Either way he’s a dick.
Posting my other important posts to help answer what granny did, why people shouldn’t compare Hyesung’s ‘abandonment’ and his mother’s abandonment, etc. and so I can go back to my previous posts without searching.
I am with you and your research back up comments. They always make it like it's Hyesung's fault he reacts that way. Like he should just be like this and that
I'm here with you..i read the previous story only because of hyesung, i thought Byul would be good child but in this current season he's just like his father, egoist and had tendencies to make it all about himself.
Do you know what abandonment means?
