….can we please pay at least a little bit of attention to actual demographics when tagging series? this is a harta series meaning it’s a seinen manga. Lumping any and all gay content into bl & ignoring their actual classifications in Japan is how we get lazy and disrespectful shit like putting a shojosei with a trans woman lead in the bl categories on this site
Proper tagging of series’ genres & categories is just a nice thing to have, especially because it helps set realistic expectations. This is especially great to have in an environment where people go overboard when things don’t go how they expect them to. This has nothing to do with being “triggered by” or “hating” BL.
For example, because The Summer Hikaru Died was marked as BL on here & other aggregator sites, a good number of people got extra pissy at being “deceived” and “baited” when the author stated “Hikaru” wasn’t capable of/doesnt understand romantic love (which he wouldn’t, being an eldritch-esque horror that took over a dead boy’s body) none of that nor the seinen rating negate the queerness of the series, but because it was tagged as BL people got expectations that were clearly misled. The Summer Hikaru Died is a hella queer series but it’s not a romance. They were never going to end up together because Hikaru is dead and whatever took his place as “Hikaru” can’t stay.
And here. So far all we have is that Atami is gay. There’s been no indication thus far (and really, at all) that this is a romance, and yet, because of the bl tags and Atami being gay…there’s already a biased expectation that it is one?
if the official website that serialized the manga in English Subgenre it as BL then it's BL and they had LGBTQ tag which means they didn't need to tag it as BL. The Summer Hikaru Died problem was that my anime list made a mistake, I really think people misremembered it, the official website never had the BL tag it was MyAnimeList that had that but ended up removing it. and I don't think this manga will get a lot of hate if the character doesn't end with anyone for example, Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai VS Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko is really popular and it's not BL and it's tagged as shounen-ai but people still love it, also She likes Homos, Not me is another example the main character didn't end with anyone but no one was pissed at that. also, the difference between this manga and The Summer Hikaru Died this character clearly gay on the other hand The Summer Hikaru Died you have to pick up hints that homophobes can dismiss, also yeah I agree making the MC end up with Hikaru is weird but I can see why people were disappointed; so I really don't think this manga will get hate also, having shounen ai tag is good it will make people reading the manga rather it collecting dust.
? A cursory glance at KADOKAWA’s comic walker (linked from the harta.jp website) only brings up Seinen, Seishun (aka spring of youth) & School. Renta brings in human drama, and CMOA is pretty liberal adding in Love Story (interestingly no romance tho). I can’t speak for the English sites (yen press?) that I assume you’re looking at but i will say localizers occasionally add genres to works if they think it’ll help the comics sell or make it more palatable to their audiences.

Please I’ve seen it too many times already can cn>en translators learn what what white wine in English means before 1:1 translating 白酒 into “white wine” when Actual white wine would be 白葡萄酒 THESE ARE TWO VERY DIFFERENT TYPES OF ALCOHOL WITH VERY, VERY DIFFERENT PROOFS we’re talking 11-14% (白葡萄酒/what is commonly referred to as white wine) vs a whopping 35-65% (白酒)
You can literally leave 白酒 in pinyin it’s ok to do that it’s /better/ to do that actually
To be honest, I personally have similar issue while translating some dishes or beverage. One of them is 酒 in itself is practically wine/alcohol in Noun. But as we know wine can be made by many ingredients, grapes, apples, anything and it's still called as 'wine' if use sugar content and yeast fermented cmiiw
If I understand correctly though '白酒' is made of rice or grains, and without dilution it will have a whooping 40-60s% alcohol in it. But then there's also rice wine (for example Makgeolli 막걸리) which commercially marketed with less than 8% alcohol.
白葡萄酒 that you mentioned also come in many percentage of alcohol range, I think by 40% alcohol it might be called brandy 白兰地酒 or tequila 龙舌兰酒 55%, rather than the standard wine with 20%. Distillation, dilution before commercialized, and stuffs.
(damn I sound alcoholic at this point am not, I have GERD. I did sip a bit if have chance and GERD not acting up)
So, long story short, I don't think it's that bad to translate it in English as 'white wine'. Perhaps just need to specified what wine it is. Cooking wine, grape wine, etc. Or in the case, some website couldn't accept other character than what you have input, so adding the pinyin like (báijiǔ) after the translation 'white wine' should do the thing
ohhh this is gonna hurt (it already hurts) I’ve been mega interested in this since I first saw it on twitter and I’m no at all disappointed this is incredible so far. Takana’s emotions and her desire especially are so raw…Ema seems to also have not completely able to come to terms with the past, and I’m hoping (though it’s damn slim, poor dude) that her marriage is a lavender one, but that probably won’t be it. he seems like an actually good decent guy so fingers crossed, especially that it won’t be messy for everyone’s sakes
yo he wasn’t supposed figure out black = vx until much later but oh well I guess
the way things happened in the novel was that he set up in a cafe, not some warehouse with a closed network. not that something like that could’ve stopped vx anyways but lol. anyways he goes on thinking that black is a separate entity for a while actually, there’s a whole scene where black says goodbye to him so they can go to the side of someone who’s been waiting for them (aka, him) and then after they get together & he sees vx in action he realizes it (and has a little internal breakdown bc he knows he’s the one who pushed vx into doing this while also at the same time feeling his respect & admiration grow bc this means vx really is just that capable)

….just so we’re clear, Sylvia is almost absolutely a horse or some kind of other mount. 100%
I think the same.
