//These are literally just thoughts that I want to share
So, Im on chapter 13 now, I found out about the story through Instagram seeing the artist page.I was almost expecting this kind of quality, but due all the respect she's amazing for even drawing all that. And I won't be criticizing the art just because its already impressive enough to do all that.
But its the story that's iffy ig? It's.. uh average? Spiceless? I mean it's build on clichés and feels like a copy mash up version of various cliché Manwhas.
Yk like someone who only read those type of stories and felt like writing their own version of it, but just doesn't know how to make it special or remarkable. It reminds me a little of myself when I tried to write my own stories on wattpad at the age of 13.
You can tell that author has little experience and knowledge about storywriting. The pace is pretty fast, there's no time to take in the little bit of characterization that we get (since characterization is already pretty dull/small).
The characters action feel sometimes very unbelievable or unnatural, which is why the chemistry also feels a little forced.
There are enjoyable bits in the story but it's overall pretty corny and heavy on clichés (even though she tries to make fun of them from time to time or giving it a twist).
I feel like it's still kind of fun to read BECAUSE its so corny and cringe and you can't help but want to know how the author will continue this, even though I'm pretty sure the author's intention was not this at all. I mean I guess that's what makes it so cringe/corny bc as a ready you can kind of tell that author tries very hard rn to make this or that scene serious and packed with emotions.
Okay EDIT: AFTER reading chapter 28 I admit the story definitely got more death and has actually very touching elements and bits. I need to give credit where credit is due.
My points still stands though that the execution and pace is still iffy but damn there was improvement! Also the uncensored smut was a bit surprising (in a good way?)
I love our Ruby obviously, but I can't help but to feel bad for the OG Ruby or generally in these stories, I feel very bad for the OG characters before they get possessed by someone else (Usually that's why I prefer reincarnation instead of Isekaid).
Especially because OG Ruby seemed to be in love with Iske and vise versa as well. Im not saying that our Ruby took Iske from OG Ruby but in some way I always ask myself if things didn't turn the way they did (or in another life) OG Ruby was allowed to have a happy life with the man she loved instead of forever disappearing, giving everything she has to someone else. If you get what I mean( ´Α`)
I love my homegirl, Haneul!! Oh she' so lovable. I've always loved cute happy girls and I love that she's always standing her ground, is so honest and emotional very intelligent. It slows that a woman can be both cute, soft AND confident. So idk why ppl called her annoying all the time in the past.
For Mincheol... bro get your ass outta here.
Listen I will DEVOUR that chasing arc BROOOOOOOO
I admit that I was a little bit irritated in the beginning with how the story went, but as it progressed I understood why. Bc actually, this was such a good choice, because as the reader you can see that she really gave it her all that she did not just give up, so its on him now!! And now with the second male lead it feels much more intriguing.
For 2nd male lead; I really hated him, really hated his ass in the beginning. But the story proved me wrong. He isn't as bad. He's also just a Character with his own struggles and not just some plot device, very happy that 1st season was an introduction to him with crumbs and some side line B-plot and now everything falls into place. I'm looking forward to what will happen to him. The only thing that I hope that he will also get a happy ending and not stay alone
I also saw that some people don't like the reasoning for Mincheol's behavior and decisions, but I feel like especially when it comes to love and emotions - It's just not logical and reasonable sometimes.
Anxiety and fear can hinder us so much in our decision-making and yes, even though I hate his ass for him hurting my homegirl, I think the author did a great job to make me personally resonate with how much anxiety he has and why he did it.
Because This is a story with a lot of feelings and emotions and emotions are never rational
Looking forward to further progression of Character development
Obviously I love to story already, but at the start I was kinda scared that the author would pull an Operation: True love and peach Sorbe move (I've already made a comment about that A year ago) but this is made really well!!
You know, a story is fire when yoy don't like a specific trope and the story managed to make you think "OH THIS is an exception"
Like you can follow the plot easil, the pace is really good you connect with the charactes and get into their motives and never think: oh that's so random/Oh, it's so rushed/Oh this feels so forced. And everything is falling into place.
Personally, I don't think that this story is generic. It has a distinctive way of handling already known tropes in a very enjoyable way.
Some people say it's easy to predict, but I personally did not predict how the characters would act leading to the current storyplot.
It's a good 6/10 quick read if you bored but don't expect too much (emotional depth, logic, sometimes even Comedy).
Maybe it was because of all the hype and ppl claiming this to be peak, but I went into this having high expectations, especially because it was on my want-to-read list for quite a longe time + I already dropped it once but picked it up again after lots of hype; yet I got met with disappointment
Not necessarily because the Manwha was super bad or anything but because it was painfully mid (for my taste). I super duper like the cutesy adorable girl X dry stoic crazy bastard guy trope, but this one didn't hit at as hard. (Mainly because the storyline and characters was sometimes really off-putting)
I feel like, everytime the story build up some emotions like the scene where he discovered she lied to him, the conclusion was not a payoff at all. It's like the sneeze you anticipated so badly and it never comes, that's how unsatisfying the arc's felt to me. Everyone is saying, her communication gets better, but I don't see it (I stopped at chapter 65)
I mean, the way how QUICK the Manwha handles conflict by brushing off how he hurt her and her hurting him, by just saying "I love you" and everything is fine again? This not a payoff for me; I want the talk, I want the why's, I want the crys.
Instead it's rather fast paced, returning to comedy every time it's too serious.
A scene that stresses this issue out the most and also bugged me the most, was the Fake lover arc..urgh...
I mean he was literally about to kiss eotoile, another woman?? And had Ridely not stop them.. ? So you're telling me, he would have done it if she didn't had? Even if he just did it to provoke her, this would be so foul, who would even get the idea to do something like that in front of your girlfriend??. The whole arc upset me so much, especially because it showed us her feelings now and how insecure she still felt seeing them PLUS oh my god how hurt and upset she was seeing him doing this ..and YET there wasn't even a single talk about it afterwards OR apologizing for even trying to kiss another woman instead and it got finished with an "comedy"-haha-whatever seal.
Also the chapters where so poor on quality and translation
Manwha sounded really interesting and refreshing, but I feel like I'm reading a old English book with too many unnecessary pompous and highfalutin sentences and dialogues I want to relax and turn my brain off and with this it's too much to figure out
Disclaimer: this is a genuine question, I'm just frfr curious about others options
Like genuine question to everyone who dislikes the ML, the story line and still kept reading, why?
I also do this, don't get me wrong, but I am aware of it and I know it's my personal guilty pleasure since I usually am still intrigued by the story, but some people genuinely hate how this is going so why bother?
Second question, why do you dislike these kind of stories yet keep reading them? + if you dislike it, are you aware that it's personal taste and not because the story has to be necessarily bad? (You are entitled to dislike things)
Lots of ppl call it bad but personally I don't see why the story is bad, the characters action make sense, the plot is interesting, you can get emotionally invested, there's no weird pothole or ridiculous action. And by reading the comments it looks like ppl are calling the story bad because the ML is a red flag or they don't like the MC BC they don't like these kind of characters but then.. why are you reading this genre?
Personally I like these kind of stories because I like conflict, I like angst, revenge (everything that does not happen if the characters are flawless from the start) I want all these messy feelings and character development, and as long as the story doesn't get problematic (for example ML doing ) I even welcome red flags, so there is stuff at stake you get me? There would be no plot without it. That's the story.
If I wanted a wholesome immediately 'everything is cute and fluffy, green flag yay' then I would have read something different, not every story can be wholesome and easy. Yes he is an asshole but the pay off will be great, there's chance for character development even for FL, so I do not wish for her to get with the second ML.
PS: obviously my opinion will change if the MC is doing completely dumb things for example IF the ML would cheat on her and she would forgive him or smth like that, for example Operation True love was also great in the beginning but got really dumb imo. BC the development just got bombed and trashed. All the investment for nothing.
Guys.. these comments about Cesar like okay if you simp for him just based on his looks (tho for me personally he's so disgusting that not even the looks are making up for it) alright you do you, I guess go enjoy girl, if you want him for YOURSELF.
BUT SOME COMMENTS.. like the fuck?? Wdym RUBY SHOULD HAVE CHOSE HIM or worse.. he should have her?? Are you mental?? We drew some weird asd ppl in this fandom
Hate the development fr. Like what the actual fuck.
Idk man, I love angst but not when fricking rape is involved, it could have been so nice, angsty and full of regret and reconciliation but noooo
So I've been letting it marinated for a bit and will continue to do so, but! sometimes I like to scroll through some chapters that's why I don't understand every plot point since I just fly over it sooo..
Can someone explain to me how he's able to touch her and have sex with her ?? Like from the outside perspective is he railing air? When he cums inside her is it disappearing or is the cum just floating in the air? Does someone has a speculation or guess or maybe there was some explanation in the chapters that I missed? Also he's so fucking hot like that body is shredded??! but did he said something with going to the gym lol??
PLEASE It's itchy in my brain because of these questions!!
"Did you wax?"
"No I didn't, isn't everyone like that?"
Wtf how can you write things like this in 2025 tsssss
How did I used to like these kinds of dynamics when I was younger like brooo I don't like Nonchalant mfs irl and I guess I I don't like them in fiction either I NEED A YEARNING MAN
Also just me being picky but the smut is kind boring, like how are so many smut which are supposed for the girls still tbh for male gaze like bro yeah sure penetration 24/7 foreplay is just optional
Kinda disappointed, seemed interesting until it was shown that he met her as a child and when they reunited he also treated her like one until "oh boobs she's mature". Also I know it's a me-thing but I don't like the "I'm a innocent pure purr purée virgin who doesn't know anything" trope especially paired with this story and context it just infantilized her more this irkes me. Won't continue this
my pfp is me with Dr. Kang's peanus
misandrist and proud die mad about it
"then why do you read so many boy MCs and have a boy pfp?"
=because they're not real therefore automatically better than real life males
This is such a brainrot story lmao, idk I've been just cringing and then I scrolled through the raws and somehow I noticed that the plot could have been straight out of the game 'degrees of lewdity' and then the manwha stopped being too cringe hahahah
Love: A great FL and ML, an interesting plot, nice art
Hate: Cheating, an annoying ML, an airhead FL, concubines, when the characters are children for like most of the manhwa (I am so impatient), a huge age gap, grooming (sorry but the ones where the FL basically raise the ML are weird to me)
If you have the same taste as me, this is the list for you lmfaoooo (consists of manhwas, manhuas, mangas)
another good website to find these reads if quality is bad: https://bato.to/v3x
I'm just afraid a about the author handling the story atp rn. I'll rip out hair and will glue it onto my eyes so I'll stop reading mangas/manwhas when this story will progress into those annoying ass mf stereotypical cashgrab triangle story
Especially it's a manwha promoted by webtoon, and they have a fair share amount of history ruining specific stories already.
I'm already extremely critical with childhood friends stories as well as love triangle stories, I usually don't read them at all but this one is FR so so good with how ML and FL act and their dynamic and story progress. That's why I'm more disappointed in authors decision to throw in some potential crashgrab Fanservice love triangle.
Some ppl already pointed out that 2nd ML and unnie could have been a great additional B-Plot love story with other angsty themes, especially the themes of regret and him realising what I great girl she is and we love a good boy who regrets his actions and a feel good chasing arc but nope.
Third, those love triangles are usually so ass and suck balls BC of so many reasons or rather BC of how so many authors handle the triangle
A. We all just end up feel extremely bad and bitter for 2nd ML bc for some reason they always end up dying alone BC of eternal love for FL
B. FL for some reasons always gets more annoying, more unlikable, more unreasonable and dumber as soon as the love triangle starts to kick in, as if she lost her brain along the line somewhere
C. usually point B) is like that BC FL gets and Indirect green light to taste test the two ML and decides which one is nicer to have around, so she plays with both of them (doesn't matter of it's intentionally or not but it's frustrating and ass for the reader BC we also like the MLs and don't want them to get hurt)
(D) Especially with smut we get into questionnally, morally very grey areas that sometimes caters to fetishes BC worst case scenario she sleep with both of them and is cherry picking or even worse: she's already in a relationship with one of them and cheats or whatever excuses. For some reason they forgive her or whatever and yeah.
Obviously none of the things listed and ranted above DOES NOT HAVE to apply to the current story since the story is still fairly early in its storyline as well as not having big signs yet. BC usually story show at some point early signs of how the story will likely progress and which vibe it wants to follow until it's irreversible.
I have no mental capacity anymore for a really good story to decline and ending up like Operation true love, true beauty or fucking peach sorbet
