How hard you're pushing in the gym is almost irrelevant to weight loss. It's simple thermodynamics: calories in < calories out. Weighing your food is the gold standard, but small habitual changes (don't snack, eat your meals slowly and with smaller utensils) and adjusting food choices (opt for mostly unprocessed food, and choose things high on the satiety index like red meat, potatoes, or legumes) can work if weighing food is too much. Remember, everything in moderation, if there isn't joy in your diet, you won't stick to it. Equally, pushing too hard in the gym and injuring yourself guarantees a much longer setback. Good Luck!

Calories are good to track but if you’re hitting the gym, make sure to follow instructions/videos if you are using those to train and that your form is proper and not harming you. Take rest days to allow your muscles to recover and if something hurts then you should stop especially as a beginner. It’s very easy to get injured if you are careless and can take a long time to heal.
