Ok I don't really like this, and I skimmed through few chapters, but cmiiw, I don't think the emperor was killing innocent people guys. I don't think he was that bad. Ruthless? Yes. But corrupted or tyrant? I wouldn't say so (I mean it's kind of the author's fault for not giving us a satisfying back story of that revolution time period).
If I try to fill in the dots:
1. He literally sent to a toturous camp by his stepmom (the previous empress),
2. Some of the characters literally said that the political situation nearing his revolution was already chaotic,
3. Some even praised him for bringing back stability even though it was through a ruthless way, but well, politics,
4. His opposite side is literally the aristrocratic people, which usually in these kind of manhwa settings, are the corrupted bad guys. Again they don't give us enough contexts for this.
I don't really like this manhwa, but I don't see the ML as a REALLY BAD character. Well obvy he was stalking and forcing her in the beginning, but really, I've seen worse. And even tho he forced her, his treatment of her was somewhat still acceptable.
Sorry, but did we read different stories or there are details that I am missing? They can't find him after 10 years because they're in different countries and have limitted resources right? Is it that easy to find your lost son who moved to different city from the last city you knew his whereabout? Like, when there are millions of cities and possibilities in the whole globe?
And I mean, the mom did try to contact him right after he left right? Or am I missing something?
But I mean they were shocked...?? And I would say they bounced back fast enough too, if you think about their situation (they ARE KOREANS, like conservative af, plus their grandma is intimidating as well), they went after him immediately when he left to the airport, sending him that VN...I think it was reasonable. I mean in irl, idk, it is hard to react to those kind of things quickly if you're raised in a conservative env you know? Plus, he was said to be the rap*st, like, who wouldn't be in a state of shock...???
Right? Like even though they really hate that fcker (what they said in recent chp), they still bought it cuz they don't know how else to reach their son. I mean I get it, I also think that they did hurt him when they hesitated in the past, and his escape is very much valid, but I think the hate towards them is too much? Like, I can see they've done their best.
true. the hate towards the parents is very exaggerated. I've seen people defending and loving worse.
also like i said i don't remember all the details but i feel like he ran away almost immediately after his grandparents and other family members scolded him. like idkkk the situation was bad but he ran away pretty instantly too.
They did a family reunion to judge, shame and throw him out the family. The parents stand next to the grandma while it happened said nothing (the dad went even against him in the prequel)
Then afterwards the mom woke up and reached out to him, at least she tried whereas the dad jist reacted after the mom asked for a divorce
Yes they're conservative but if your child was raped by his cousin you should stand with them not against them

It's a "I need to turn off my brain to read this" kind of story. But it's fun enough, and I'll keep reading this.
