it's so fire (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
I often find story with quite original world building to be suck in narrative or storytelling
but this one storytelling is so good, it didn't over explain in narrative, everything is mostly covered in dialogue, plot, and pictures; they can turn it into a movie/donghua just fine
the foreshadowing was quite good, author was so well prepared. they must already have an outline since the start
although there's still some confusion related to time-space and the difference between soul, body, and consciousness, and also them being reincarnation but also not reincarnation of the previous gods... but i think it's more or less cultural knowledge and some stuff lost in translations. if i think more about it, I think I understand a little.
for example xizhan's soul and jian's body are ingredients for the new god. but the new god will have different consciousness/sense of self, and xizhan still have his own sense of self inside the body. the thing about jian being a part of the previous god is still confusing to me tho, jian's body is literally the old god body is fact. maybe the old god split his consciousness too and then the split (jian) began to have its own consciousness.
i don't think the story telling is good. the comedy and their dynamic is great tho.
i mean a mystery don't need to be too mysterious. cheongdo himself seemed to still withhold information not said to chanran, our main perspective. and chanran was busy doing those household tasks instead of investigating properly and he always dismiss those supernatural stuff which actually important clues.
so what does author intend to do? ok maybe this isn't a detective story, but these two main characters need a tangible direction after 30 chapters, it's a crime not to have one.
chanran still in the investigation phase and cheongdo just lounging (in plot) watching how sexy chanran is (relatable tho).
i just have a feeling the reveal gonna be anticlimactic. i mean it's already obvious who is the villains here right? so they actually only need to find the elders weakness so they can negotiate or something. it's actually pretty clear in shamanic clan like these, there are bound to be corruption and people in politic who don't want their name to go out there for using shaman to curse their political enemies or something, they just need to find the name list and threaten them, or find evidences of the clan evil plan and sold them out to their clients who may be get scammed by them. That will solve their problem if they only want cheongdo to be free. they don't even need to know what happen to grandma or those birds or those corpse walking at night at this rate. i mean if the clan stop doing something whatever cheongdo is, he's not going to suffer their backlash of their evil deed. so that's why i think it was made too mysterious and aren't in the right direction yet
awawawa that single panel with ssr kun, i'm really sure author start to make him a love interest for mc!! (≖⩊≖)
also toujo is safe to ask for an aquarium date because he already has a lover? but lol ayato gonna be jealous. and isn't a bit weird to ask your brother's boyfriend to go tgt (≖⩊≖) he should just give the other one to ayato
he's not on iruma's side but he's also not iruma's enemy. he just wants what he think is the best for the demon world. at least someone who not only think for himself.
I think he can be negotiated with if iruma and friends can show that iruma being here has more benefit than not, and that iruma can protect himself from demon who wanted to use him for something bad.
i will act the same towards chiara if i were in yatora's shoe tbh. it took me a while to understand why yatora did something wrong. so yatora didn't actually do something wrong. social interaction isn't always one correct answer question like what japanese tend to think (read the room culture). it's just that what he said didn't sit well with chiara's personality and as an art student it's more professional (or studious) to want to know about her works. but it's not wrong either to set boundary if yatora didn't feel comfortable with chiara and didn't want to get involved imho. although that way we wouldn't have an interesting story with her
it's the opposite for me, when I was younger I can't stand this, because to me stuff like pregancy and breastfeeding feel too lewd to be shown in shoujo manga. it IS stil weird, but now I am an adult I can see them as a natural things. So i continued reading while giving it the benefit of the doubt and it was actually pretty good (it has its strength and pretty entertaining)
also, I have read much worse story, like a story that trying to hide a manipulative pedophile as handsome dragon folk and the union of a child and a man as fated thing from god and they tried to sold it as FLUFF.
compared to that, this manga only problem is that it has Moe style. like the style where young girl has bikini-top as warrior attire, or like when a 16 years old kept wearing their uniform while involved with a "wild" adventure.
anyway 16 is like the lowest bar but still above bar in many manga like how 18 is the bar in other countries is a really old discourse. reason why i rarely read shoujo nowadays because weirdly it hasn't changed much along with step-sibling romance drama
at the same time, this is not a manga i would recommend for middle schoolers, maybe only older teen or people with understanding of moe culture, gag appreciation, and able to differentiate reality and fiction and still being critical of what's wrong with this manga should be okay

recent chapters are a bit fragmented story wise
it feels like there's no clear plot, will they ever clash with red and will ever stuff with cloudwalker get expanded??
