The craziest what if.........
WHAT IF, the title isnt referring to the MC's desire, but rather her current HUSBAND'S desire?
For those that are mad about Hyeso being upset --> pls remember that one of the lurking, underlying issues is Haeil's identity, whether he is more human or more animal, how his genetics and his role in this world of science will be significant.
Hyeso constantly has inner turmoil about morals and being a good person, which is why he constantly questions the ML's identity as being either animal or human. Haeil himself is more Orca but has a desire to be human. And then finally, we see that the antagonist has some greater plans for Haeil and also looks STRIKINGLY SIMILAR to Haeil. It may hint that Haeil actually started human.
In summary, this identity crisis is pivotal to the story and is why Hyeso gets upset. He's not really sure how to categorize Haeil, thus he's not really sure whether to hold him accountable to human standards or not. If he's more animal, then it raises the issue of whether their love is truly mutual, but it also gives him more leeway to 'mess up'. If he's more human, then their love would be the same, but it would also mean that the Haeil is more conscious of his wrongdoings(lying, violence)
Here, both chars had JUST painstakingly confessed their love. For Hyeso, this is an acknowledgment that theyre on the same playing ground. So to follow up with finding out his lies and violence, its jarring. On top of that, Hyeso is mainly upset that Haeil lied about hurting the SA-er, however Haeil has also hurt others too, like the crazy guy. Haeil was violent towards the man and stole his clothes, despite the man being otherwise harmless.
Wait what was that thing the ML pulled out of the MC? It doesnt look like a condom
The backstory was way more simple than i initially expected, but HONESTLY, thats probably for the better. Overcomplicating would raised the potential for the story to go wrong.
Also, THANK GOD THE 2nd ML HANDLED THAT SO WELL
Visually, i love the background art. Lots on manhwa artists use very template and patterned, or simple color toning to set the mood now. I love that this artist really invests in the background art.
Second, I LOVE the chars. While the couple is definitely still the focus, i like that they interact and engage with the side chars too. It makes the story feel much more dynamic and less suffocating than when only the leads get screentime.
Also i love the characterizations, they all have defined personalities and I like how the MC is generally quiet but can stilll voice his wants. Similarily, the ML is domineering but not in a suffocating way. Very much a service-top but in a gentlemanly way.
Finally, the art context is just IMMACULATE. Really speaks to the author's talent too.
Evidence of yes: a strong sensitivity to ML's scent and the ML implying that a scent comes from the MC too. Potentially the loss of his parents may have caused him to unconsciously lock down his own pheremones. Potentially a 'fated' scenario, which the Dr mentioned.
Evidence of No: most obvious one seems to be that he doesnt get wet, which the ML constantly seems to be checking(LMAO), the Dr also mentioned that attraction by a beta is just genuine love and not influenced by hormones. Doesn't notice pheromones from others.
Someone also mentioned that the ML may be able to 'change' someone's second gender. Idk if i believe this YET bc there's been no mention of this as a possibility yet. The doctor-friend gave us some worldbuilding context and never mentioned this, only that golden A/O's exist and they can train themselves to hold back their pheromones. It's why I think the MC might've just been a late bloomer and once he lost his parents, became too emotionally distant and locked up his pheromones.
Ok but.... THEYRE ALL GETTING FUCKING FINER BY THE CHAPTER.
I was very iffy at the start bc the ML really did seem content with Gihuu/his gf at the time.
But reading further, im ok with the main couple now. The ex-gf seems mainly interested in keeping her social clout but for the most part, she's not handling it THAT badly. I do get that your bf suddenly flipping on your would be pretty alarming and upsetting. They'd been together for almost a year, its actually pretty decent amount of time.
I like that the ML separated from her right away but also did at least try to recover his memories. If he had stayed out of obligation, it wouldve been way dragged out. But acknowledging that dishonesty and pursuing what he wanted made him more genuine.
I also do like that the cast has a good amount of unique personalities, including the side chars.
The sudden historical setting, from my guess, is a 'side AU'. I've seen it more often in BL, where authors will sometimes insert an alternative univerise or fun side story. an example in in Jinx, where the plot went medieval for the side chars. It's almost like a form of hiatus or break in the main story.
That said i like the MC quite a bit. Did NOT enjoy the pacing. They have sex every other chapter(repetitive ones too), while hinting at something really convoluted in their shared backstory. I personally ENJOY hints at the back story, but the pacing was off. We were getting crumbs for 80 chapters straight bc half of it was filled with smut. Then suddenly we get a ton of complicated backstory that doesnt even make much sense.
WTF THIS WAS SO GOOD, LOVED THE LORE AND THE MAIN COUPLE. They were fr giving chaotic and stable.
Personally, I did NOT want Yeomra and Yeom oh to be together and I'm glad it wasn't romantic. Partly bc i didn't really see more than pity from the brother, but also partly bc Yeomra was suffocating in a way that genuinely felt uncomfy to me. I generally enjoy toxic couples but when he was actively putting the brother at risk, nah.
Harming the family of someone you care about is too much for me, especially when, like the Yeom-Oh said, there mightve been an alternative.
Personally, I DONT think it was a misunderstanding. In that moment, she probably did hate him just for a little while. People can have 'complex' feelings and I imagine she probably really was mad at him, but was also gracious enough to let it go knowing he wasn't being malicious(just careless).
Honestly, its amazingly mature of Haneul, to separate her immediate feelings of hatred from her perspective of Mincheol as a valuable friend and the accidental nature of the incident
This story and their development is literally moving BACKWARDS BY 60 CHAPTERS. I LOVED this story for a long time, but now its fallen somewhere between indifference and dislike. Dropping it, which is disappointing
They should NOT be having sex rn. Juheon is incredibly emotionally distraught and vulnerable. His whole fear is of being used so bringing sex into this is just not the right move
Wait this was hella good. I will admit the jump to sex when they first met was a little much, but i like that the story actually acknowledges that it wasnt a good move on the ML's part and he tries to rectify it.
I also like that the story dealt with some fairly realistic problems(rumors, stage fright, uncertainty of future, awkwardness of teenagers etc).
The MC is actually rly cute and funny, and has great chemistry with the ML. I like that they have personality/hobbies/interests unique to themselves and for once its the MC that has his shit together. I also like that the side chars have good chemistry with the MC too(in a platonic way).
Wait, wasn't she in the middle of the road??? AND IT WAS STAIRSSS??? damn, this was uber underwhelming.
