Because on one hand don’t find problems where there aren’t any and conversations about media should be progress but on the other hand y’all HATE having conversations about problematic media and the fact that some of its toxic in the first place. Incest, pedophilia and rape with a sprinkle of murder could be in a book and someone mentions that it’s possibly problematic and they get dog piled on. People’s experiences are going to dictate the way they perceive certain things some people aren’t reaching they just see similarities that align with their experiences

So the conversation in the comment section was about grooming and whether or not this book can be considered grooming and some people were upset because they didn’t like that people were talking about it. I’m saying that on one hand we shouldn’t find problems where there are none. Reading a book and looking for any aspect that’s slightly problematic isn’t healthy or productive. Books represent real life and there will be some small things that individuals don’t personally like because of our own experiences. However i’m saying that on this website a lot of people don’t like to have conversations about media when it is problematic. Even in stories where there re clearly times when a character does something wrong and it’s romanticised or pushed under the bush and not talked about, So when a commenter says something like “ that character is a racist and he said something really disgusting and the author just pushed it away. i don’t like that” people reply to them and dog pile onto them telling them they’re soft, and they’re not allowed to make negative comments and their negative comments are ruining the experience etc. Some people in this comment section for example were saying that people were over reacting and that this story doesn’t have a problematic aspect and i’m saying that even if it did people on here don’t like to be told that sometimes the stuff they’re reading so problematic or romanticising something problematic.
so essentially if you tell people that they’re not allowed to talk about the bad things that happen in books and that them having conversations about it ruins your experience of reading a book i’m talking about you.

Both sides makes sense to me. Things done to a moderate amount is ok but too much is not? Something like that? Idk what I'm saying.
Anyways I agree with the point that people have different life experiences and may react differently to certain things. And that they should be allowed to express their negative views on it.
Oh totally moderation is always favourable over any extreme. This chap reminded me of a random slightly related opinion that i have. The existence of readily available spoilers kind of make some books lose their potency. I love spoilers always have. i read the plots of
movies before i watch them and i read the last chapter of books first but all of those things require a certain bit of labour on my part and aren’t easily accessible to
me. The reason i bring it up here is i think the spoiler about the MLs trauma with women being so
easily accessible ruined the reveal a little. We are supposed to root for the FL. we know how nice she is and how misunderstood she is and in contrast the ML acts cold towards her and is standoffish to his daughter. The audience are supposed to root for FL and then be shocked by hearing his trauma. just in the same way the ML wrongly perceives the things FL does we and the FL wrongly perceive the MLs emotions and just like the characters in the book were forced to
confront how our pre conceived notions are harmful. I get it people in the comments didn’t want to see people victim blame but that’s the point ? you’re supposed to victim blame and resent and then realise you were going wrong alongside the FL. i feel like the message gets lost when we hand feed people plot points and this isn’t me telling people not to it’s just a point of view i thought some might find interesting

Okey so I’m not sure but from spoilers I read the thing is the marquis hates the imperial family including lesian and the crown prince no one else knows that they’re siblings except the marquis well lesian also knows cuz she read the novel anyways the reason he hates them is because the empress traded child with them I think very confusing I know anyways but both children were girls and the marquis’s wife died which led him to thinking his child died too but since they already traded he ended up raising/ fucking abuse lesain cuz he would die if ge told people they traded kids so he thinks his real daughter nara is dead with his wife but she actually grew up as a commoner and got adopted by some nobles and she got close to the crown prince and our fl entered lesians body that was a lot girl I don’t even write my essays this seriously

It’s really hard to care about the implications when the premise is built on the fact MC doesn’t really make any choices. I like the guy don’t get me wrong but this all started because he just didn’t want to be a hero everything that has transpired is happening to him there are very few choices he’s making independently he just reacts to things as they occur. Which is fine for slice of life but when we are jumping from battle to battle with intricately drawn character fights as an audience there has to be something at stake but there isn’t. It’s not like he’s particularly connected to the kingdom, he doesn’t like fighting, he’s not really bothered about pursuing justice and all of those things make us like him it just means the plot has to do better world building to capitalise off of that. It’s like this is trying to be that time i got reincarnated as a slime or re:monster but isn’t actually committing
