I'm a non American, so this is an outsiders view, but I find it interesting that my European and Asian friends don't have this morality stance that many Americans do.
They are able to separate fiction from reality.

Mmm I wouldn't say it's hypocritical. People just like what they like. I would guarantee you most people that read yaoi and see that the seme rape the uke would know it's wrong, but it's a fantasy and a safe fantasy because it's written and not experienced. Also there are people that like hardcore stuff too, and that's fine too.
