Anyone else just now getting to reading some popular-ish stories from years ago?
Recently finished Checkmate by TAN.
These are titles of interest for next read: Under the green light, Full Volume, No Moral, and Limited Run.
In your opinion, which one should I read next?
I'm watching The Prosecutor's Proposal and also finished the novel. It's a hate to love relationship with possessive and obsessive top and a smart but timid bottom. They have no sexual assault or abuse between them, just pure tension and desire. Top is a sadist and bottom enjoys a little pain.
Is there any BL rec with similar dynamic?
I like it when there's possessive and obsessiveness but no assault. Is that even possible in this day and age?(/TДT)/
Overall I liked it, but I thought it was a super melodramatic story.
In addition, I wished this was just full on dark atmosphere instead of flip flopping between the chibis. I can't take this seriously knowing the character has suffered greatly just to see him portrayed as a round cheek big eyed chibi enjoying a yuzu cookie in the next panel over. It resets the tone of the story constantly and made it hard to retain certain emotional reaction I had.
I did enjoy how much they liked and wanted each other but at the same time, I couldn't really connect to their feelings, in the aspect that I wasn't going "omg their relationship is so profound" because given that Bottom was an abused child, is it surprising he fell for the first person who treated him kindly? The top was treated like a monster, is it surprising he fell for the first person who didn't fear and hate him despite that fact? Their attraction was too convenient, their yearning starts to fall flat.
Still a decent read though, at the end of the day. Just not as amazing or as deep as many other commenters made it out to be imo

I love it when the rough sex is consensual. Both are freaky freaks ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
Anyone notice the bolded '1. Use english' Rule that's been added to the list of rules to follow prior to posting on the homepage ?? Lol was it always there? Or when did they add that and why? Does people actually post so much in another language to warrant that added rule? I barely see anything except English anyway, what an odd rule
The way everyone conveniently blamed the guy who got out, instead of taking the abuser head on....sigh.
Top might just be too kind. Bottom is crazy. Old guy deserves death and a spikey dildo up his ass. All his victims need intense therapy. At least it's happy ending.
Messy and clean at the same time, astonishing.
The pseudo-sibling thing going on....yeah, definitely messy. Kind of uncomfortable to read about ngl. It's the one ick in this yum, no hate. But the new relationships and building trust and becoming better people, together. Very clean.
I kind of don't want to forgive jinwoo because he's problematic but I can see character development, so I'll let it go. I knew he was gonna get his own side story when author started drawing him pretty and the other pushover guy appeared
At the end there dojun started calling Jinwoo's mom 'your mom' instead of simply saying 'mom' like at the beginning. Not sure if it's intentional or translation error, but I'll take it as dojun breaking free from internalizing all the blame onto himself and finally moving past needing to owe debt for existing.
The loop narration is kind of confusing. In this current loop mc and ml are super friendly with each other and always blushing etc etc, so I'm confused how he got rejected the previous loops? Does this imply they never talk at all in those previous loops? MC was just a stalker and confessed due to one-sided feelings? Buddy, no wonder you kept getting rejected....Lol. There's no way he gets rejected in this current loop tho. And it's not because he's vowed to not like the ML anymore (this seems to be the supposed reason why the loop changed, because he declared he won't like the ML anymore but), it's literally because he's actually putting in effort to build a relationship before confessing ( ̄∇ ̄")
