I think the translation mistook his thought bubbles for speech bubbles. In his head he was saying that he loved her etc. The only thing he said outloud to her was that he didnt want to find his mate
So in a way this is the basic misunderstanding if he didnt say it.

AI translation are a pain
I'm curious, how do you know it's AI translation ? I feel like I never figure it out ...
I’m not really sure if this translation is 100% AI but it has some aspects that other AI translations have, like the cleaning of the speech bubbles. In most translations the speech bubbles are cleaned in a way that it looks like a normal speech bubble, but without the speech, AI cleaning makes the bubbles look all smugly and dirty. The words also aren’t correctly centered and completely ignored the speech bubbles, it just looks like if you copy and pasted a sentence without making sure it fits in its place. One of the most common ways to know if it’s AI, it’s by the fact that most words don’t make sense or confusing translation.
All of this thing are some of the most common ways to know if something it’s translated by AI but it’s also mistakes new translators make so I think the best way to know if something is truly AI is to see the credits of the person who translated it, some works are translated by just one person but others are done by a team, I’ve noticed that most AI translations don’t mention anything in the credits but the name of the team or just have an AI banner.

pretty sure they hinted at brainwashing ? after his brother died (he was killed by a gang member i believe), manny was lost and hurt. i forget how he stumbled upon the church but the reverend there basically manipulated him and used his pain to convince him that it was his “god given” duty to remove the bad guys from the earth. they haven’t made it clear if he has any disorder but i believe he may just be compartmentalizing as a trauma response.
his brain is essentially making him forget he’s doing these things to lessen the guilt and the reverend also makes it worse as well but i think to some degree he is aware of his actions hence the last chapter with the confession.
