I think the author did a good job showing how sometimes victims become monsters themselves. The author is not trying to justify Mincheol’s cheating but instead he’s just providing some context that although he was deceived himself and suffered because of it instead of learning from it he chose to became an even worse version of the person who deceived him. Haesoo was the one who suffered most in all of this. She was abused since childhood and had no reliable family member. Mincheol was all she had. She was already over working herself and wasn’t in the best of health. She was suffering mentally because she couldn’t get pregnant and then this happens. Mincheol knows all this already. She’s still putting her faith in Mincheol and working hard herself but because the debt is in her name she has to work extra hard. Then she gets divorced from Mincheol because of the debt but still living with him. This affects her mentally even more. Exhaustion from work and the situation eats away at her even more. With time she becomes even more drained and cold. Mincheol seeing this initially feels immense guilt because he knows he caused all this but with time that guilt turns into resentment towards her because he can’t handle the guilt anymore. He can’t handle taking all the blame anymore because it eats away at him. The only way he thinks he can cope with the situation is by blaming it all on her like she’s the reason he cut off his friends, she’s the reason he didn’t go to college and have a better job, she’s the reason he took out the loan in the first place, she’s the reason he doesn’t have a better life etc. He’s a coward. He’s just running away from reality. He digs himself deeper and deeper into a hole because he wants to solidify that he’s innocent and not a monster but ends up becoming an even bigger monster. Mincheol is not someone you should pity. You should take a lesson from his life and avoid becoming him at all costs.
Here come the Riftan haters with no critical thinking ability.
I love this kind of webtoon where there’s nuance and not everything is black and white. Some readers haaaate having to think and want everything to be “green flags” with no grey areas but that’s not how people are? Real people and believable characters are written in a way where, you may not agree with them BUT you can see where they’re coming from and what motivates their behavior.
Riftan already feels like Maxi had to downgrade her life to be with him so he’s trying to make sure she lives the most comfortable life possible. Hearing her say she’s there because she’s his wife makes him feel awful as if, because of him, she has to live a grueling, difficult life and he feels guilty.
People in the comments are so quick to pass judgement. You guys are not mature at all. As readers, we know the whole story yet people in the comment section lack basic critical thinking.Relationships are based on communication and working things out not just divorcing at the first sight of conflict without listening to the other’s side. You need to understand things from everyone’s perspective not just Hyesung’s. Byul is a teenager. He’s emotional and full of hormones right now. He doesn’t know the complete story and its context. That’s why he doesn’t know the difference between Hyesung leaving in the beginning due to the circumstances and postpartum depression and Hyesung’s mom abandoning him. His reaction is normal given his age, immaturity and his incomplete knowledge. Dojin is doing what he can as a loving husband and human. He knows what Hyesung’s mom did. He also knows Hyesung’s reaction. He does not forgive Hyesung’s mom at all but in this story they tell us that Hyesung’s mom was abandoned by her new family after they found out about Hyesung. Hyesung’s mom may have been in a very bad situation. Dojin helped her because at the end of the day she was Hyesung’s mom who looked exactly like Hyesung. Hyesung also loves his mom and that’s why he hates her so much. If something would’ve happened to Hyesung’s mom he would’ve been deeply hurt too even though Hyesung would try to deny it. That’s why Dojin did the minimum of supporting her financially while not maintaining any family ties. He did it so at least she would be safe and have a home. He did not tell Hyesung because he believed Hyesung hadn’t reached a point where he could talk about his mother again rationally. This was wrong of Dojin as he should’ve talked and got Hyesung’s approval but from a Husband’s perspective we understand why he did it. It’s not something that they can’t work out and communicate through.
I get that Dojin is a loving husband and a kind person, but he’s directing his empathy and care toward the wrong person, the one who caused the deepest pain to the person he loves most.
Hyesung was also in a horrible situation when his mom abandoned him. He had to run away from an abusive father and fend for himself completely alone with no support. It’s frustrating to see that his mom doesn’t have to face any of that. She gets help, compassion, and comfort she never earned, especially not from Hyesung or his family.
It’s unfair that she did such horrible things, yet in the end she gets to live peacefully in a nice house, financially supported by the rich husband of the son she didn’t even care about. And honestly, Dojin did maintain family ties. He stays in regular contact with her, so he kept the door open for a possible reconciliation that Hyesung had already decided he didn’t want.
Why is Dojin deciding for Hyesung what’s best for him? If there was truly a chance of Hyesung wanting to reconnect, Dojin wouldn’t have had to hide all of this behind his back for 17 years. Let’s be real
if Hyesung wanted to see her again, he would’ve done it already. She abandoned him 30 years ago, and Dojin’s been secretly in touch with her for 17 years. If Hyesung hadn’t reached out by now, it’s because he doesn’t want to.
also saying Hyesung isn't rational is so crazy if anything he is THE ONLY one being rational cause he is the only one who understands the gravity of this situation. If anything Dojin was the irrational and impulsive one deciding to help the person who hurt HIS SPOUSE. In no case should u be supporting the person who hurt ur spouse no matter how much of a hero complex u have. Her other family was so smart for cutting all ties with her icl.
Honestly if this sounds that we're immature than yes I'm immature
Because I'm not forgiving someone who choose to abandon me to get a better life
And when realised that I'm living a better life chose to come back
Like no bitch
You better stay tf away from me
And DOJIN?
That fucker has been the problem since the very beginning
He fucking raped hyesung and forced him to keep the baby
No he ain't some saint
He's one of the shittist character I've seen
And no
Not everything can work out with communication
Some things are there which can never be solved through communication
But I believe you can't understand that
And no I can absolutely tell you this with full confidence that "HYESUNG DON'T LOVE JIS MOM" even if she died he would've not cared
AND NO
JUST BECAUSE THAT BITCH IS HYESUNG MOM
DON'T MEAN HYESUNG LOVES HER
AND WOULD FORGIVE HER
literally brooo
All of the 'victims' of the mom cut ties with her (hyesung and her other family), why is it so hard for Byul and Dojin to see that there's A REASON FOR THAT. It's bc they weren't the ones who were directly lied to or hurt so they don't understand the gravity of the situation, which is hella selfish on their part.
the mom is also extremely manipulative and a liar. She abandoned hyesung and made him think she would return, lies completely to her new family and hides a whole ass child and her past, then she does the pitiful act in front of dojin and byul
I'm so upset with dojin and byul rn but that's the only grace I would give them. The mom is clearly very manipulative, so she knows what she's doing and how to tug at their heartstrings to get what she wants. And the 2 of them are stupid enough to fall for it
Finally someone pointed this
Hyesung mom is not some pitiful omega left behind by her family
She's fucking manipulative
She's damn manipulative
Even when she met hyesung she never apologized for abandoning him
Instead she put the blame on hyesungd's father and hyesung that he didn't come to find her
She hid the fact that he had a child from her new family
How do y'all even think that she's simple lady?
I think we’re interpreting this chapter wrong. What Jay meant by debt might not be the same financial debt Mincheol is talking about. Taeha very clearly said to Mincheol that “I already gave you a chance”. I think that implies he gave Mincheol a chance to treat Haesoo right. He gave Mincheol a chance to make things better with Haesoo. By now we know that Taeha knew Haesoo in the past especially when things were very tough for her because of the financial debt that Mincheol had. Mincheol never really made up for that and then went on to cheat with Ari. It was only after that cheating did Taeha come into Haesoo’s life. Taeha here is telling Mincheol that he’s already used up his chances to be in Haesoo’s life. Now he will be the one to make her happy. Taeha is most likely also the one who told Jay what to say to Mincheol. The debt Jay is talking about is not a financial one but an emotional one that Mincheol has to pay and the repayment of that debt starts from his suffering. Since Mincheol has no idea about this he’s confused and thinks they’re loan sharks. The wife Mincheol knows is gone. She’s not the same Na Haesoo for better or for worst. He won’t find her anymore. That’s why Taeha says he hid all traces of her. Not Mincheol or anyone else will find the old Haesoo. The new Haesoo won’t let things go as Mincheol expects.
People alway say how Na Haesoo’s body seems unrealistic but to me she looks very realistic because I’ve seen so many people with this body type. Na Haesoo isn’t shown to be very skinny. She has a healthy amount of fat around her stomach and she has thick thighs and legs. Her boobs are big but it’s not like they are unrealistically big and they match her body shape because again she’s not overly thin and petite. Na Haesoo is somewhat curvy. Sure she’s not fat and has a somewhat flat stomach but again it’s not overly thin with a none existent waist. There are women with big boobs, reasonably flat stomach and thick thighs. If she only had big boobs and the rest of her body looked malnourished then it would’ve been unrealistic. Compared to her Taeha’s body is more unrealistic.
The comments on this manga are so weird. First of all, the story is actually interesting and really good. It’s different and unpredictable because we still don’t know what happened in the past to Cain, Agio and Vercike and who the true villain is. My guess is that Cain is the actual villain because this is all something that he has planned a long time ago. Cain is the one keeping Ken quite at times and he has a specific plan in motion. Cain could also read Vercike’s thoughts when he was young but pretended he couldn’t. Cain isn’t the lovable and merciful God of the moon as people claim he is. Second, people continue to shit on Agia but forget what he’s been going through since literal childhood. The church literally trained him to kill vampires since he was a boy. They forcefully took him from his mother when he was a child. His mother died in from of him by Vercike while trying to save Agia by running away from the church. The church would abandon Agia in forests with starving vampires on the loose and ask a young boy Agia to not only survive but kill them. They would brainwash and emotionally abuse him constantly by saying he’s going to end up like the other people of the night which is in a water tank as a half dead test subject if he goes against the church. They raised Agia to kill him in the name of the prophecy. They made Agia believe that is his only worth as a human being. They made Agia so incredibly miserable that he himself believes that the only way he can be free is by killing himself for the prophecy. Agia just wants to be free now. He’s been through too much. He doesn’t think he is worth anything and he is just tired now. I know he did wrong by lying to Ken and deceiving him about the prophecy. There is no excuse for that. Given what the church did to Agia I’m surprised people think Agia would still behave like a normally well adjusted character. The man has been suffering physically and emotionally for years on end. He’s being brainwashed into believing he has to die ever since he was a child. I’m surprised how some readers don’t understand Agia and aren’t sympathetic towards him at all. These readers shouldn’t have such a one directional approach to his character and actually use critical thinking to understand his circumstances and actions. The way Agia behaves is totally rational for someone in his position and situation. Even after the way Agia has been treated he still truly does love Ken. His actions speak louder that his love for Ken is real and true. I’m also glad Agia started telling the whole truth to Ken about the situation. Now it’s up to Ken to persuade Agia that his life matters and is worth living. It’s not easy to undo years of brainwashing but Ken can do it because Ken loves Agia just as much. Ken now understands Agia. He also knows despite everything Agia still tries to do what he can for Ken like saving Rosie and treating her well. The story is really good and I’m sorry to say but the commenters are unnecessarily shitting on it so much. Sure some people may not like it as much or may have certain issues with it but it is still not as bad as the comments exaggerate it to be. If people can like stories like “Jinx” and shit on this then just see what their critical thinking capacity is.
Omg! That's true! Like why can't people feel sorry for what happened to Agia, they only focus on Ken right now. Both of them are experienced something terrible in different ways. They only want to pursue something. I wish them happiness only. But the author still give us many puzzle. Like there's something missing but I can't say what is it?
Since there is a slight debate regarding the coworker I’d like to give my opinion:
The coworker didn’t do the right thing. First of all, the coworker and Na Hae-soo aren’t close at all. They merely exchange pleasantries at work only and even then the coworker doesn’t fail to give back handed compliments meant to humiliate Na Hae-soo because she is jealous of her and at the same time she feels she is superior to Na Hae-soo. Second, the coworker knew nothing about the situation at all. She only had a suspicion relating to Na Hae-soo. She should have at least observed the situation a little more to gain a better understanding about it before even thinking about doing something. She didn’t even try to get any clarity about the situation from Na Hae-soo herself. Third, she doesn’t even know or has seen Na Hae-soo’s ex husband before. How quickly she came to the conclusion that Na Hae-soo is definitely cheating and deceiving without any sort of proof is surprising. Forth, she didn’t do this because she had a good moral compass. She did this because she’s jealous of Na Hae-soo and wants to humiliate her. She’s not worried about Na Hae-soo or the guy. Fifth and most importantly, it’s none of the coworkers business what Na Hae-soo does and doesn’t. She’s literally no one. She’s not even close to Na Hae-soo nor does she know Na Hae-zoo’s ex husband and the rose guy. Even if one does have a good moral compass it’s no one’s business to interfere in a coworkers life when they don’t know shit about the situation and when they’ve not been asked. You don’t have the right to tell them what’s right and what’s wrong. If a crime is being committed then call the police but other than that you are no one to do this. You shouldn’t even have the audacity.

Why do people forget that Enzo’s literally from the Mafia? Not only born and raised in it but also leading it. He’s as crazy and dangerous as they come. He’s not going to be a green flag just because he’s good looking. He’s a black flag which is expected from the head of a mafia group. In addition, he’s also pissed as hell on Rian for sleeping with that woman when he specifically warned him not to. In Enzo’s mind Rian is already his possession. Given how crazy he is Enzo’s actually going easy on Rian. I think it’s actually Rian who seriously needs to understand and realise the severity of the situation he is in and how he chose the wrong person to take lightly.
say it louder sis
