Currently, the "harem" part of the story is at most nonexistent. The main reason why people are set on him having a "harem" is due to the fact that Bjorn's party members are mostly female. Bjorn also didn't deny that but is less interested in the "harem" that he created since his primary focus is on surviving along with his people.

The "harem" is imposed. By rumors from the people who only sees MC as a barbarian surrounded by females, not a warrior surrounded by capable teammates. And it gets worse after he becomes a noble - talks about marriage and heir and factions among other issues. He'll try to find a way out of it because denying will only do him more harm than good - people will either get weirded or get suspicious of him.
