This had everything I needed right now, the setting was so enjoyable and both characters being so clearly different they’re almost incompatible, it works for them so well though. I wish it was longer cause there’s so much more I wanted to see, the debt getting paid, Mikes backstory seemed so interesting and even Ethan’s backstory would’ve been interesting to see. No complaints though, can’t wait to revisit sometime in future.
Holy moly, first couple was almost unbearable, at first I thought they were alright, sorta boring but cute ig? But lawdddd they got so codependent and borderline abusive it was impossible to cheer them on. Jealousy like that is dangerous and ugly, Sukyun was truly unlikeable. Second couple were phenomenal and I honestly will re-read just for them cause that was a well written romance and the characters were more interesting (in my opinion ofc). Saw some hate about Jun so I really thought he was gonna be a problem but I thought he was lovely? He didn’t ruin the first couples relationship like many say, I believe the hate is misguided and should be directed a Sukyun.

Totally! Sukyun genuinely felt like a vampire but, instead of sucking the blood from my veins, he sucked the joy out of me the second he was on screen because I knew he was about be jealous or just a downer and ruin the vibe of the chapter. I don’t understand how the author felt like that was a good way to leave the 1st couples story? Should’ve ended with them separated and in therapy.
I typically avoid yaoi with kids since it’s always mpreg and my gay self hates the “pregnancy scare” trope in general (it doesn’t really feel like it represents the beauty of queer family dynamics), but I can get behind these gems that show one way queer couples can actually end up having kids, it’s equally as beautiful and actually feels like representation, our sunny days is another great example, now I just need a story with an adoption. (This was my main talking point but the story overall was really enjoyable).
How you feel about many of the comments that just aggressively scream straight by minimizing Jiwan's childhood abuse by his parents and constant hate-criming as just an inability to get over his 'insecurities'.
It always irritates me when I read comments under a yaoi, it’s mostly demonising a character and, doing so while the commenter obviously doesn’t understand the character and often just screams ignorance in my opinion. I suppose it’s due to many factors such as the consumer base for this genre being predominantly women and a large percentage being straight, they seem fairly narrow minded when it comes to queer struggles(not always ofc). His character struggles with a very queer specific experience, and while some of the readers can understand where his intentions and motivations are coming from, for someone who will never experience this level of discrimination will probably equate his behaviour to something they could experience. I imagine a straight woman is putting herself in mc’s shoes and her boyfriend being jiwan, for her, the queer part of his story is completely stripped so she only sees his behaviour, which, without the internalised homophobia, his main reasoning behind why he pushes mc away, is just going to look like he’s playing around and wasting mc’s time, due to regular insecurities and using him and his kindness. It’s unfortunate and obviously not all straight readers are like that, and they can empathise with the character. This is just my guess on how they are able to misinterpret a character so bad but, I think it makes sense, as a reader I often try to relate to characters all the time so it’s not a far fetched theory, I think? (Sorry it’s so long I tried to cut it short I swear, sorry for any mistakes also, it’s 3am so my brain is starting to feel like mush in my skull lmao)
Couldn't have said it better myself. Ofc not all straight women (people) are lacking empathy, I'm pretty sure a majority empathize with the uke, but the very loud minority make me uncomfortable, and I'm just a queer woman. Can't imagine how queer men would feel.
Totally, it’s definitely ignorance on their end, hopefully as they consume more queer media, such as yaoi, they will educate themselves more on things like homophobia and its affects on people, though I’m not sure yaoi is the best representation half the time, so I’m not too surprised they can’t seem to sympathise with a character representing life a lot of real queer people experience, especially a more realistic, less idealistic portrayal. And yes, you're right on yaoi not really being the best representation half the time, which is why it's so important to actually interact with queer communities in real life. I hope the people in these comments actually do that, or at least try to gain more empathy by educating themselves at the very least.

I haven’t read this yet since I decided to let it marinate after finding out they are in a break-up era (quite a while ago mind you), every now and then I check on the reviews or posts to see if it’s safe to start, but somehow, Everytime I come back it gets worse, according to the small amounts I see and hear ._.
So refreshing and new, loved the super London specific details like an Oyster card and different land marks, it’s so fun and such a fitting setting. Love re-reading this story so much it’s so romantic and feel-good but also has complicated relationship troubles that aren’t just immature misunderstandings, feels more grown and such a nice break from the school yuri & yaoi I always see.
This was so good with such a perfect ending although, like every short story I read, this would’ve been so good if it were longer and let the grief sit with us longer. So good for 6 chaps seriously.
I actually ate this up!! First Guideverse, I was a bit apprehensive about this universe since I’m not hugely into omegaverse but this is way more interesting to me! Usually when I start a new verse I end up super confused with a ton of questions about the world they live in, but this story tells me all the details about guiding and what it actually is which made the reading experience so much more enjoyable. I also am not the biggest smut enjoyer and only enjoy it when it adds to the story/relationship, which this does beautifully, it felt rewarding since ml had to overcome past relationship trauma to accept a new relationship which made the intimate scenes more impactful. Can’t wait for season 2.
Will be purchasing, I avoid buying smut but I’ll make exceptions here and there. Can’t wait for s3!
Just re-read, not sure about this side couple comeback? I would’ve preferred side stories or a whole new story with new characters. It just seems random and I truly dislike the bully guy, him and the best friend just don’t make sense??? Never once do they directly interact and they never allude to any personal tension (the friend only acknowledges the bully’s existence when it comes to his interactions with Juwon).
A bit confused and will prob read just to see Juwon cause he’s such a well rounded character I truly loved seeing him while re-reading and is always the highlight on screen, for me personally.
Just saw another comment below me with similar thoughts and they got quite a few dislikes so now I’m intrigued to know why so many disagree, I get being excited regardless but, it definitely is a random pair that I can’t see being romantic even after re-reading with them in mind. Interesting.
