so I realized I don't know how to pronounce Blanche's name.
All this time I've been reading Blanche with a "ch" sound.
But it might be like Blanc? Like with a "k" sound?
I mean either way it's pronounced still means White in different languages, which is obviously the point, but I don't know how to SAY it.
I had a really hard time reading this. Ayne wasn't just MEAN before the transmigration, she was straight up evil. Like no one can deny that. The Duke and the assassin aside, keeping a wolf her slave and actively abusing him is Very Not Good.
And I applaud the writer for intentionally giving themselves such a difficult villain to redeem. It makes sense that no one can trust her, cuz only an ignorant or equally evil person could.
But since the point is to redeem Ayne tho, I really don't see how. Like I said, straight up evil. It might be seen as th easy way out, but I don't see any way she can get out of this other than SAYING she isn't the original Ayne.
Right?
(Warning, commentary ahead about those who are anti-Maria so if you don't want to read please ignore the rest of my post! *puppy eyes*):
Which is why I really don't get the readers saying Maria is the b**** for not trusting Ayne, when Maria has never known Ayne before the current FL took over, so has NO reason to believe they're two different people or, more specifically, to think that the Ayne who employed cruel methods in order to force Reinhardt into becoming her fiancee and the Ayne in front of her are NOT one and the same, especially if Ayne doesn't say anything (which I can understand why she doesn't but unfortunately it does lead to the current impasse she and Maria find themselves in here).
It's understandable then that Maria, who loves Reinhardt, would want to protect him from someone who treated him so poorly in the past, especially when she knows he's already been abused. But according to these readers someone (Maria) who loves someone else (Reinhardt) must accept their (Reinhardt's) poor treatment by others (Ayne). Or they will insist that that person (Maria) openly declaring their (Maria's) intentions to the other (Ayne) means they're (Maria is) trying to sneak behind their (Ayne's) back and steal someone (Reinhardt).
Finally, these same readers equate Maria's straightforwardness with being on the same level as an OG heroine who harasses, plots against, isolates and is just downright nasty towards the new FL because they're jealous that all the attention that 'shoukd rightfully' belong to them is going to the new FL instead. But, of course, I forget, we gotta smash that square peg into a round hole!
I agree with Maria's feelings, but I also feel she's going about this the wrong way.
So far, she hasn't actually spoken to Reindhart about any of this. As weird I think it is for him to have feelings for Ayne right now (they all feel pretty Stockholm syndrome, except for baby Pope), those are still hi feelings. Maria isn't actually putting him first. Shes putting her feelings, and her intentions first.
Not that she'd be EVIL, she's just naive and doesn't know what love is. What I'm worried about is this:
Maria's father is totally willing to off Ayne so Maria can marry Reindhart.
Maria may not kill Ayne, but she MIGHT ask for the emperor to anull the engagement and have Reindhart engaged to her instead.
I fear Maria will do this without Reindhart's consent. In which case, Maria would be doing the same thing as Evil Ayne.
And then its a slippery slope where the Original Plot's heroine becomes the villain.
I HOPE it doesn't turn out this way, but that's what it looks like might happen.
