Possibly because of his upbringing, but I think once he realised he is gay/bi he might change his mind when he isn't able to marry the person he likes. Yeah they don't have any idea about it also they don't care about it , and here's what I noticed it's just from my family but they support people being gay or lesbian but when it's us like their blood family they would think it's embarrassing, shameful and would absolutely not support you , like usually family care about reputation that's probably why they'd want straight children, smart child, and good looking child
