Why are we acting like Saku is the only one who could run off with a fated mate? Alphas have fated mates too that they also instinctively chase. Kira is literally doing that right now, proving that alphas equally CAN (not will) blindly follow their "fated mate". Saku is CONSTANTLY proving himself because apparently not being kinda unhealthily obsessed with your partner isn't good enough. Like, are we forgetting that Renji is an alpha who also has a fated mate out there? Why doesn't he have to prove his love? He really has only proven that's he's obsessed with Saku. Renji struggling to trust a bit in that moment is fair given "fated mates" and all that, blaming him for it is not though. Renji trying to trust Saku is great, making Saku share a room with his perpetrator WITHOUT informing him of any intention to do so AND MAKING HIM WEAR A BUTT PLUG- not so much (yes, Saku doesn't have to go along with the butt plug but we know Renji will just find a perverted way to get back at him). If Renji wanted to share a room with Kira to prove something to himself, Renji, and Kira, that'd be a whole other (kinda unnecessary) thing. This whole arc feels like a very bad way to handle the idea of not being bound by fated mates. I like the idea of what happens when an established couple meets a fated mate and is like "nah homie, I'm good, already taken" (the idea of a fated mate, though comforting, is actually kinda unhealthy. It pretty much means that any relationship you have outside of your fated is just for growth and will end or at the very least will cause people to not fully connect due to the potential for them to just suddenly abandon the other for some random stranger they bumped into that smelled really nice). But this is like Saku's options are the dude who is mostly just obsessed with him and is for some reason really insecure and the dude who assaulted him based off "instincts". Body reactions does not equal consent.

There's been a LOT od debate about them from what I've read in the comments and replies. Personally I am more with the people who aren't fully for their relationship (I do over all like the story). While 5 years apart isn't much and I've been with multiple people who are more than 5 years older than me it's the specific ages and contexts or their situation that get me. First of all major brain development usually ends at age 20 but over all brain development stops at 25. So Arashi, likely, hasn't finished with major brain development and is going to date someone who has a fully developed brain. Also people are saying that Arashi is too immature for his age, he's f*cking 19. No he's not. He's barely an adult. Sure, maturity varies but he's still very young. He is, however, very NIAVE for his age. A 19 year old is much more vulnerable than a 25 year old. Also for most people those are very different points in life. We also have to consider that Arashi is from a different culture with very different experiences so he's pretty vulnerable and influencable right now. There's also the fact that the doctor started off as his guardian and his teacher. Those are two different positions of authority and influence. He may not be abusing his power per say but the inherent power imbalance for that relationship dynamic isn't good for a romantic relationship where you should have equal power. And people where saying home boy has a doctorate. He is young and that's kinda the point. The drive to achieve that so quickly and young and the maturity required and really most of the nuances about it just make me uncomfortable about this relationship. That's a very different point of life to be at. Arashi is 19 and exploring a world he's not seen before being guided by an older much more experienced person that WANTS him, not just to help. That's litteraly a power imbalance
Alright so that whole thing lowkey p*ssed me off. They acted as if death was the worst thing for mortals which we all know isn't true. Secondly solitary confinement is a form of psychological torture that goes way beyond "boredom" and "loneliness" (not that those don't suck or cause mental damage). Not to mention, its a small cramped space. He'd be physically uncomfortable (also another form of physical torture). His joints would ache and his muscles would cramp and stiffin. Eventually basic movement would be difficult and painful and he'd loose most his muscle mass (unless its just sorcery magic esthetic). Solitary confinement would brake most people and cause damage after a month. Time may go by quickly for him but he's definitely f*cked so this is a pretty harsh punishment. Not only that but they just take the sorcerer and ignore the blessed maiden. The person summoned unwillingly from another world now stuck in one with no preexisting system of their own surrounded by magic they don't understand. Like if Ume weren't lucky he'd f*cking die in this scenario so clearly the people's of this world's governing bodies don't care about the blessed maidens. And I definitely feel like Theo is only getting punished for political reasons having to do with him pissing someone off by being powerful and not an ally

This was really cute and I quite liked it. I relate to the struggle with naming. The author said there was going to be another one that will follow the 2nd couple and implied there'd be intimacy depicted this time. Personally I hope they're both switches cus it seems fitting but also that having an assigned position is a stereotype that applies to a minority of gay men. Mostly though that it just seems fitting if the 2nd couple are switches. Especially cus the vibes I got from the MC was that he doesn't have a particular preference (though maybe leans more towards top?)
I've been reading this for years in the sense that I dropped it for a while. Everyone keeps saying they hate all the character or just Charles and Kai is fine. Personally I very much disagree in the sense that Kai pisses me off more. Like, I'm not saying that Charles being kinda immature and always denying shit he knows is right isn't annoying but I've been around enough nuclear engineers (and am one) to not be as bothered by that. What does really bother me is that Kai in most of their interactions either directly or indirectly belittles Charles and its completely glossed over as "well Charles IS weak" or some shit. Like just because some things are true doesn't mean you have to be a d*ck about it. He litteraly told Charles that Charles is weak and dragging them down and that he needed to change that but once Charles agreed (in his own way) Kai immediately went "no, you're a wizard". Litteraly teased him for being weak, like how the fuck was Charles supposed to know he needed muscle and physical prowess for a video game world. Like, instead of pointing out that they got roles that matched their personalities and personal strengths he just went "weakling". ALL WHILE KNOWING CHARLES LIKELY HAS AN INFERIORITY COMPLEX. Charles NEEDS to grow out of it but clearly Kai wants Charles to like him and yet does all the shit that makes people with inferiority complexes feel worse and dislike a person. How're you surprised he like a stranger more than you. As someone with an inferiority complex Kai would make me feel AWFUL. Constantly pointing out my flaws bluntly or mockingly and then treating my small successes that are considered basic skills as a big triumph has definitely been the kinda thing that has lead me to low places (and not the kinky kind)
I kinda feel bad that Raven got executed. I'm pretty sure they stated that he's around the MC's age, so he was between 15 to 18. That's pretty young and while he did definitely do things deserving of punishment I think executing a teenager who is still at a point in their life where they can be manipulated but still capable of great change was a bit much. He was very clearly acting on beliefs indoctrinated into him and was definitely still young enough to be convinced out of them. He was young and probably a bit foolish and like many teens very caught up in a political ideal that his parents encouraged him to have extreme enthusiasm for. We saw he wasn't evil and probably thought he was doing what was right. I dunno, I think executing kids is just really harsh, they're young and easily encouragable. He definitely did deserve punishment though.
So I was really confused during the height of the first one. So first of all not sure how he would've thought that being a doting brother is a weakness given that he doesn't like people making wrong assumptions about him and he didn't seem to care that much besides when Arii teased him about it. Secondly they grew really attached to each other quickly which I can overlook given it's a short story. What threw me off was really (1st) that his roommate had such trust issues that he doesn't trust people who are kind and assume it's an act but then additionally projects that onto the MC. The roommate said he was being threatened but we didn't even see that, which seems like he just assumed some sort of threat was banging in the air despite even being helped. (2nd) the MC was upset that his bf wasn't jealous about him just being around another guy. If ML was jealous just cus that then that'd be a little concerning. (3rd) MC assumed ML's feelings without asking based off a lack of jealousy in small situations and then that all gets blamed on ML. (4th) the situation where the ML confronts MC and then just abandons him for a random situation is wild. After that I started getting a little lost in what was going on and why, felt like both MC and ML were being immature
So I just started reading this, maybe it gets explained later on though. My confusion is why it was necessary to make his niece pretend to be his son. There are clearly girls at the church so we know they're ok with accepting females and one of the emperors sent his nephew so we know they're ok with any relation that is a direct descendant of the original heroes. I'm not quite sure how her pretending is supposed to do anything different. Sure if assasins wanted to go after Leo they'd go for Lelia, but regardless Leo is tucked away in a castle where, without the knowledge of Lelia's existence, he'd still be considered safe. If he thought Leo was in such danger that even in the castle he wouldn't be safe and needed a stand in then the emperor would have already found one much sooner. Also how much is the church really going to argue with the emperor, especially when they keep making a big deal to reference Leo as the crown prince when so are all the others. That indicates to me that the Emperor has some special standing or influence (oh, and 100% he killed Lelia originally to prevent her from opposing his son as heir)
So we saw what the wind user chick's great aunt looked like as an old women and that in her youth they looked the same. Does this give any indication of how Cecil (wind user chick whose name I only just remembered) will age? Cus, if so, she shouldn't look forward to aging well at all

So like, their relationship doesn't seem to healthy, but I feel like he also wasn't in a good place to start with. Usually absolutely loosing yourself when your partner dies is a bad sign in a relationship cus of the degree of attachment. That doesn't mean becoming depressed or grieving or feeling like you lost a part of yourself are bad or abnormal. It's just to the degree which he acted. As well as the lack of communication. Also being literally obsessed with your partner is NOT a good thing.

What I will say is that I like the ambiguousness (I am probably using this word wrong but it's what came to mind so oh well) of his character. Like, I'm not saying I like him as a person. He felt like it was entirely his fault for the loss of his sister and he didn't seem to have anyone to help him through his grief even though he was a kid and to top it all of his dad comes home with some random stranger they have never met and without discussing anything says she's their new sibling. I can only imagine how flabbergasted and taken aback the brothers were (not that their responses where ok), it probably did feel like their father was trying to replace their sister.
Derrick never saw Penelope has his sister. His guilt regarding Yvonne and his anger towards his father's response to their loss caused him to lash out. But also made him never seen Penelope as his sister really. She was some random stranger in his house trying to take the place of someone else he dearly cared for. From personal experience this can make an individual feel fake and make it hard to get along with them, it's frustrating to watch them take over a lost loved one instead of finding a new place for themselves in the family, though I know that can be hard and that Penelope was not trying to replace someone though maybe hope to fill an empty slot. This is probably why Derrick has complicated feelings towards her. She was never his family though he acknowledged her as such due to obligation and didn't think much of it so when she got older and he knew her more she was a woman, not his sister, that he was seeing.
I feel like if it weren't for fake Yvonne Derrick would have treated Penelope better than before but only slightly and at most it would take a long time before he started to really think about things. I am curious to know what would have happened otherwise and if there would have been some other major event or something small that has a major impact that makes him realize things.
Regardless I think Derrick was neglected in terms of his trauma by his father and probably everyone else and ended up growing up shaping himself around his childhood guilt. None of this makes the things he has done ok, I would just like to make clear.
At first I thought she was going to stab the sister and kill her as some sort of sacrifice but the last panel or two had me thinking otherwise. Like, it feels like she stabbed herself instead, at least to me. I think she is either trying to harm herself and make up a story that will put the main characters in a tough position and try and use that to control the duke or kill herself. Like, if she kills herself, because of the way she has the spell working, she will go back again and is trying to restart. Again. But I don't think she will actually restart, at most if she goes back it won't be very far
There is quite a few things that it doesn't make sense that this world has no version or alternative of. Like the simplified math not existing cus f*ckers afraid to touch or change legendary work kinda makes sense and can work (like few and very far in-between people thought there must be a shorter way but like thought that was a crazy thought of theirs or didn't get far and where stopped or maybe said "this hard so it's not meant to be" cus who gonna argue a dragon). But like, the blender and water proof paper. You're telling me that no one thought "hey magic makes things convenient" and tried to blend or juice fruit easier? Magic makes things convenient and science understandably becomes less developed in a world with a lot of magic or at least common access to it but that doesn't mean inventions stop being created or thought of. They are just simply different and would evolve differently over time as people discover new things in such a world. Inventions come from laziness and a desire for convenience (and improvement) not just science or technology alone. That being said, I also don't give much of a f*ck cus this is a very interesting concept and it's fun watching her rock everyone's sh*t with our everyday normal concepts. I've liked watching her incorporate all of it from the beginning so I'm perfectly willing to overlook such things.
The first thing I'd like to say about her is that whether or not she willingly gave up Celphi she isn't really his mother. She wasn't involved in his life whatsoever while he was growing up. She didn't raise him or show him the love of a mother though she may have wanted too. Not just me but numerous members of my family were adopted after being given up by willing and not willing bio parents.
Another thing is that yes, she's a complex character, but that isn't why some people are upset with her (some are cus they can't handle dark complex female characters). While I understand her reaction that doesn't make it justified. She is actively wishing equal harm (death and ceasing of existence) on both people who did and did not harm her. She says cruel things that attack other people's trauma and play on their weak points. She has a negative outlook on things and shares it without being willing to hear from others or what they have to say. On the other hand she loved her husband and did everything expected of her and yet still was treated like breeding cattle that could be replaced and had to fear dying throughout her pregnancy. That can definitely affect your relationship with your child and I believe have a negative effect on the child (one of my aunts was depressed during her pregnancy and it lead to minor complications and less minor effects on her child). She then lost the only person that made being apart of that family bearable. I can only imagine by this point they had already consumed her life (as compared/differing to live) and world.
Her response to her experience makes sense, is reasonable, and very realistic but that doesn't make it ok or just. I like her from a writing perspective but as a character/person am on the fence. Suffering isn't a reason to be hurtful or cruel to others. Though I do understand freaking out when people essentially hunted her down and stayed in her home doing go knows what while she wad away and who were from a family she hates. And that she had to muster up courage to go see them to warn another woman before she was too hurt only to be shown what she believed was ignorance and naivety (and genuine rudeness plus ignorance).
