I really wished authors knew that there are other type of conflicts besides “miscommunication”. It’s not just this manga but all of them. This manga just happens to showcase the trope blatantly. It would be nice if there was an MC out there who recognize that there was a miscommunication and went: “Nah bitch. We’re going to talk about this as clear as day. You ain’t running today boy. I locked the fucking doors.” But usually it’s the ML who recognizes it and have to patiently explain to the overly emotional MC.
Now then... fun lesson for all you aspiring writers out there. Did you know that there are other conflicts besides miscommunication? Shocking, I know. They go as follows:
Person vs. person
Person vs. self
Person vs. Nature
Person vs. the unknown
Person vs. God/fate
Person vs. Society
Person vs. Technology
Miscommunication falls under person vs. person but there are more story conflicts that can come from the category. Just like person vs. technology. Yeah, a story where an MC has to fight an evil AI program counts as person vs. technology. But a story where it’s about an MC grappling with the advancement of technology compared to the old way of life is considered as person vs. technology too. Sometimes the obvious answer isn’t the best.

Everything about this manga is scuffed. Good idea but bad execution. I see a lot of people putting blame on the husband or more blame on him with some fingers at the MC. Bruh, the MC is just as bad for enabling and encouraging everything. It’s fine if it’s all fantasy and you kept it to yourself, more or less. But once you try forcing it on other people, that’s fucked. The best way to put it: its like the MC going up to actual gay couples and asking them to watch and openly admit that she fetishize them. Then to use them for writing material without their permission? Bruh. And even when he said “No.” she still pushes it and act like it’s the end of the world. Bitch chill. Not having porn isn’t the end of the world and if she was really doing it to support gay love, she would be writing more shounen ai and less of the toxic yaoi story plots.
As for the husband, he’s isn’t great but I feel like he’s a bit of a victim here tbh. I really think he’s trying to cherish her and he recognized how valuable she is. Or at the very least say: “hey. You’re my wife. I want to do things with you and not my retainer. Why do you keep pushing me on to him?” Yeah, there was the weird kiss chapter but tbh, that was really out of character imo. I think the author just wanted to push their agenda. And I think in the light novel, that kiss was a hallucination from the MC part tbh. Also it is fucked that the MC pushed the retainer to take her place when the ML isn’t in a proper “consenting adult” mood.
Yeah, it’s scuffed that ML fucked MC when she made it clear she doesn’t like it but tbh, what MC likes sex in these stories. I swear to fucking Christ. All of them go “kya kya! I hate sex I hate sex!” But still be like “I feel so good!” Like damn bro, what is the ML supposed to do in these mixed signal situations. Curse you Madonna whore complex!!!! If I was the ML in any of these sort of mangas, I’d dump the MC and go to a brothel. At least those girls act like they’re enjoying it and say it.
As for the MC being openminded.... HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA YOU THINK SHES OPENMINDED?! She’s only openminded when it fits her fetishes. “Hey, it’s normal for a husband to have a couple of lovers... but only if they’re gay! I refuse if it’s another woman though!” “I promote gay love! ... because I can write porn about gay men >:)” Bruhhhhh this shit is scuffed. Everything about this is weird even. The cons outweigh the pros.
But to be expected from Japanese isekai stories. The literal definition of “good idea, bad execution.”
Bruh. I didn’t expect to have two different storylines when I picked up this manhwa but I’ll be damned not to admit that I am entertained. I thought that those manhwa would end up as any other generic reincarnation story with a white lotus rival, jerk fiancé, aloof duke who suddenly change because of the nice MC, and a “I’m not like other girls but I’m also like other girls because I have to still be relatable” MC. I mean- yeah, the manhwa is still that but damn! This translator drama spice things up.

Okay okay... I see the comments about Kirishima cheating and the snobbish comments going “*push glasses* technically he’s not cheating.” Let’s put the facts and opinions on the table here.
Yes, in the technical sense, Kirishima is not cheating on Yoshino. They aren’t dating and Yoshino plainly said that she doesn’t like Kirishima. (Thank god she has eyes).
But in an ethical and interpersonal stand point, Kirishima is an absolute scumbag in every manner of the word. It doesn’t look great to anyone + it’s a bad sign when the person who claims to “like” you and wants to win you over is going out to fuck women and doesn’t even attempt to show loyalty. It doesn’t matter even if tells her up front that he’s going around to fuck women, it’s still scuffed up. It’s like going on a first date and all your partner does is talk about their ex’s and their sex conquests. And don’t think I’m saying that he should keep his fucking on the downlow... it’s still isn’t great!
Kirishima has no right to ‘hang on’ to Yoshino based on his actions and it’s clear that he doesn’t really ‘like-like’ her (I don’t even want to say “love). He’s like a child who wants to a new toy that just out of reach but at the same time wants to play with his other toys. He likes her... but likes her as a passing interest. We can tell based on the first chapter, he would chew her up and spit her out if Yoshino slips up just once and relaxes her “bad bitch” persona... she would lose his attention if she turns out to be “basic”. To him, Yoshino is just fulfilling his fetish. Hell I don’t even know he would like her anymore if she decides to like him back.
And before anyone sputters out anything about polygamy, open relationships, or being “woke” that’s cool! But we’re looking at Yoshino as reference here because she’s the MC. And Yoshino is more or less the traditional type of gal... as in she cares about monogamy. As such, the least Kirishima could do is appeal to that side of her to show how serious he is about her. But he isn’t. And about her being fine with him doing all this crap... yeah... because she doesn’t like him. Like... she hates him. Why would she care about the actions of someone she really doesn’t like? But him doing all that fucking around won’t improve her impression of him. Tbh, this reminds me of this date I had irl. Dude tells me all about his ex’s and sex adventures then asked me if I cared about him having sex friends. He was so shocked when I told him I literally didn’t care cause I don’t even like him.
Anyways, we have to remember that Yoshino is sticking around to break Kirishima’s heart and also to help her family. She could leave whenever she wants... and seeing how Yoshino hasn’t broken Kirishima’s heart yet, I think we can all tell that he doesn’t really “love” her yet for her to enact her plan. And if anything, they might end up in a loveless marriage tbh. (Well, I hope. I pray Yoshino continues to have good eyesight).
Also, if anyone is wondering why I haven’t dropped this crap, I’m still waiting for Kirishima to be a “yandere”.... since everyone swears from heaven and hell it will happen. Still don’t see it btw based on his actions and that nothing is telling me that he actually “loves” her. And if we’re talking about his earlier “jealousy” scenes, I associate it with his misogynistic view on women tbh.
TBH I want him to love her but I don't want her to love him.
So he could have his heart broken and she could crush his fucking pride because seriously I hate the guy.

Honestly, mood. But tbh I know this author’s other works and I know he has a thing for fucked up, loveless relationships. In his last manga, he had this guy and girl couple. Guy only liked the girl because she looked like her dead sister/crush. They ended up together. Girl is kinda lukewarm towards him going like “I guess I like you.” And guy still can’t tell the difference in his emotions between her and the sister.
Don’t quote me on this tho. My memory of the manga is hazy at best. But the point is: this is shounen and not many shounen mangas properly “respect” the female character.
Wow, I’m amazed that so many people liked my diet analysis. I did a review of this manga a long time ago, when it first came out, on my review blog. Said the same there there, more or less. People told me that I was wrong and cynical about the manga.
A year later, seems like I was on the right track lol
