Does anyone know how to save list? I remember someone posting a tutorial here when the glitch happened and i cant find it anymore

I keep getting logged out and im afraid that some stuff will get deleted again like the list of read, reading, and want to read last time

My “Want to Read” and “Now Reading” lists are still gone. The only mangas there are the ones I added the day the site went down out of confusion. So from my understanding these are never coming back, ever?

Yes and no.
There is a CHANCE they're still recovering works and you might get some back. We don't know what phase the devs are in for recovery. It's basically been radio silence from them sadly.
You'll probably get back works that you rated or tagged in those lists though. But nobody really tags works until they've finished reading so very unlikely.

I say no because I personally wouldn't get your hopes up. My wtr and nr were basically completely wiped as well and I havent gotten any back since the initial recovery in early Feb.

If you've already done it there's no reversing it. I'd like to say it'll be fine, but if your lists get moved around/ glitch out/ face any issues, that'll probably be why. Again, I'm not an insider so I don't know anything.

I suggest not touching it anymore, because we don't know what stage of recovery we are in. If you notice any of your recovered works moving around, then that means we might still be in recovery stages.

Again, because it's radio silence from the devs ,even if stuff seems okay, it's better to be on the safer side.

Wait. So, after everything was lost and I started adding back up what I can recall, there's a possibility that might get lost AGAIN too?

The possibility is LOW imo, but the site is gaining a lot more traffic than usual. The site COULD crash again and we lose everything but that's just a worse case scenario.

I quickly checked your lists and you've done a lot of mass editing adding stuff back to your lists. As a warning, we don't know where site recovery is and your lists may end up jumbled if devs are still working around with lists. I highly reccomend backing them up now with the link I've shared.

In general as this is not a lgal site, its better to back up your lists anyways. It's always better to be on the safer side unfortunately.

Especially as we haven't heard anything from the developers. We don't know how stable the site is right now. It's better to exercise more caution than ususal because the site went down again on the 18th and caused quite a scare.


Again, not an insider or dev so I don't know how ssrious stuff is behind the scenes.

I have seen some people saving stuff to those lists so they can add it back to their personal lists later
I'm pretty sure the only thing that devs had to fix was the personal reading lists so I want to say those separate lists should be okay! Like 70% sure!

But I've heard zero issues from those lists for now, so I say don't worry!
Only issue I think it'd bring up is adding more load to the site, but I don't think it should be too heavy on the servers.

I know it takes lots of time to fix this issue and I’m grateful for their hard work but still it’d be nice if we have a a bulletin or something with the actual dev announcements instead of people writing speculation left and right! Also thank you for your hard work in writing these post to everyone as well, but one can’t not read the mangas ones currently reading specially with the spoilers everywhere, the new chapter labels disappear after a while and you find yourself that you didn’t read half them! The only reason I didn’t re-list is because the part I got back half of it aren’t tagged or reviewed so I keep on getting my hopes up! So really which is it to re-list or wait? And if I happened to read a new manga should I add it or also wait?

Two: I don't understand what you mean about the spoilers?

Three: I understand that it has been annoying spending a whole month without notifications, but your lists might get messed up if you add stuff.
I am currently waiting for replies from other people that have had their lists tampered with recently. Someone said they lost works they added to their reading list yesterday. Someone also said they had works they added to their 'reading' (after lists disappeared) move to another list, so they stopped getting notifications.
All the more reason to not re-list stuff.

I know it isn't ideal, but what you can do is put everything you're reading that's currently updating into a separate list (not your reading list) / or list the names of the titles in your notes app and check them manually from time to time.


Four:
The reason why you got so much of your list back, is because they recovered most of your list before the disk crash. This is because you have works that were marked as read from years ago. Most of your recovered works are from 2016.
Last I heard (before the list data was lost), they managed to recover reading lists up to a certain year. Then the disk crashed, and now they can only recover rated/tagged works moving onwards.
This is why, if you check your 'reading' list, in between your 2026 entries, you have a title recovered from 2021. Because it has tags.

Sorry if this sounds mean, but I couldn't really understand what you wanted to say, so if this reply doesn't answer your question, let me know what I got wrong.

Clicking onto profiles, you'll see lots of people who have 100s, even 1,000s of works in 'already read' but literally zero in 'want to read' or 'reading'
Well, you probably haven't needed to check profiles, but as someone who has been checking through lots of people's profiles to help with their questions, I see it a lot.

Don’t worry it actually explains why I got some of my untagged or reviews manga back! What I wanted to ask is wether to re-list or not since all I read is “the list won’t come back” “don’t waist your time” “if you re-list all your list will be gone”! One of the users said to wait for two weeks if nothing goes back then forget about getting anything back (that was early feb) so I was wondering when to re-list again! The dev are not replying to you guys so I don’t know how much it’ll take!

A strange thing happened to me; I created a new account so that I can add everything on my lists back (this time tagged and rated just in case) and not temper with this account that I’ve had since 2017. Everything was going well but today when I checked on the new acc (while logged into this one) all the lists were empty, I was about to give up again lol but when I logged into the new account everything is still there, just not visible from this one idk why. (and no, I did not change the settings, nothing is hidden)

I'm guessing that stuff isn't synced properly because of the site crash? Something, something, technical stuff that Suujin mentioned in their FAQ (not really).

Earlier today when I went to go check out someone's account, they had the thumbnails of works in their 'want to read' but the list said 0 was in it. When I refreshed the page, all the thumbnails were gone. This might be a similar thing where the actual account owner may see something different to an outside viewer and it's not synced? I'm not a tech person Idk. Sorry thought it'd be good to share.

I did hear from another person they added something to their 'want to read' and it got removed when they checked on it again in about a day, so I suggest you back up your alt account periodically off the site.

I don't know whether or not you should even be touching lists on your alt (that's a Xander question lowk), but just make sure you have an off-site list regardless

Ok i might sound like a broken record but for me there are 2 types of lists. there are the 'I want to read', 'I'm reading' and 'I already read'... but there are also actual lists you can name and make. Since the crash I have mostly just been rereading old stories and those that get updated. So i made a list called 'Make new rating', cus i was scared if i put them in my 'reading'/'already read' I would fuck things up.
Is it ok i put titles on there or should i just write down the titles elsewhere until we get a "EVERYTHING IS FIXED!" ??? (っᴗˬᴗ ς)

How to back up lists: read the google doc I linked /manually list every title in your lists into a spreadsheet or notes app.

Why to back up lists: The site may crash and lists get wiped again. But not go down completely. Like we can still access it after, just our lists will be gone again. (low probability)

Also, because the site may go down completely like THAT site. There are always other sites where you could probably find the same titles.

Also currently, because the site isn't completely fixed it's better to back up your lists now. Because they're moving stuff around, and your lists may lose titles etc.

You should do both in case those lists have an issue (because you never knoww), but other people have been doing that so I guess it would be okay.

In general, because this isn't legal it's good practice to back stuff up off-site anyways

Yes and no. You *may* getting some rated/tagged still works back but very unlikely. It seems no one's had stuff recovered recently.
Whether you lists have finished being recovered or not/ if the team is still recovering your lists doesn't matter.
Why you shouldn't edit them is because the site is still unstable.

I would say it WAS safe to use but I personally wouldn't as the site is still glitchy:
Recently stuff that we thought was safe is getting buggy.
Examples:
People had some issues adding stuff to albums yesterday (stuff they added wasn't properly getting added)
Someone today added something to their lists, and it kept getting removed
Comments had issues sending

I say to be safe, do it in your browser bookmarks rather than the on-site ones.
A few days ago, it would've likely been fine but these days the site has been buggier than usual that I'm scared with anything.
If you do, do it one at a time (not in bulk) and make sure to check each entry is properly reflected in your account.

my account is from 2018, so my reading, want to read and already read lists start from that year. i have gotten two mangas recovered, one from 2018 and one from 2019. is it safe to assume i won't be getting any more recovered?

I am an old user and a few years ago there was another crash but that time the whole site went down for days and no one knew what was going to happen, after it came back, they took down the comment sections for a long time, anyway, after that happen I got scared that it could happen again so I took screenshots of the reading and already read (every page) so in this occasion I was able to recover most of it but still I got lazy and didnt update it in like 9 months so I still lost some, so now what I am doing is every time I put a manga in reading or already read I take a screenshot of only that one in the list. Just saying because I see a lot of advice like adding them to other sites or the scrapper(which you could still lose data if you dont update regularly) but I find this method a little easier to follow through and remember, but I guess it depends of your habits as well

To add on, I say this because your actions are likely not being reflected on the server side immediately/ at all. (Sometimes I have to refresh a few times to see if my reply is posted/ it isn't even posted at all.) Make sure you always check changes are properly reflected!

I'm unsure of how stable the site is now compared to the 24th though. Some people have been saving their to-reads etc in those lists too. I think the site is stable enough for minimal issues now but again, be careful.

How do we know that the process is over? How do we know when to stop waiting for the return of ours mangas?

So for now it’s just a waiting game? I only added three maybe to my currently reading a week or two after it crashed. At what point should I be concerned or should I just suck it up and try to figure out what the hell I’ve been reading and where I’m at??

Also adding three is fine I added ~20 after site crash. I personally recommend not to touch lists as I've seen too many issues on other people's end. We don't know how stable the site is right now and it's just safer not to do anything to save yourself the headache if anything goes wrong.

And yep. I say suck it up. That's what we've all have to do unfortunately. I've been recovering stuff through my browser history and open tabs. Check your bookmarks, other people's lists etc.

Like creating our own lists with different names that the site offers?I'm manually adding my manga list on bakaupdates but I don't often recognise mangas there because of the names. Should be fine, just check that your entries are always going through as sometimes the server side doesn't update your entries immediately/ at all. Make sure to refresh after about 10 seconds to check it's gone through.

To be safe I would just add stuff to a custom list, or just always check your history
I wouldn't recommend a mass edit such as moving misplaced titles/ deleting stuff (2 people have had issues with not being able to delete stuff

Even though you weren't part of the people affected you still may face issues that others are experiencing with your lists. Entries not going through. Other glitches, other bugs
Especially as you were from *that* site, I still recommend building your lists off-site

And the stuff about notifications again, I just suggest going through your history to find them or adding them to a custom list (next to the rating buttons add to list and you can make your own) A lot of us just kinda had to live without them. If there are certain series you follow, maybe find if the uploaders have a social media where they notify for updates or just take note of when the update schedule is. It's what I used to do when I didn't have an account.

No, your lists are not coming back entirely, only rated/ tagged.
I personally wouldn't edit lists yet because the site is still known to have issues with stability.

I check the site every day and go through almost all comments on the main page I missed while away. If there is no edit to this post, it's safe to assume all information here still applies today.

We don't have any official info from the developers except the answers from mails about rated stuff. Every single info you read, take it with a grain of salt. People are writing essays on this matter, Ik some are trying to help, but as long as something isn't confirmed directly from someone working on the issue, it can all be wrong. So you can either wait or just do what you want

It's updated now. I had to add two disclaimers because I realised people are just not understanding why I am sharing this advice.
If you added stuff and it went well! Great! But I've talked to someone today that faced issues because someone else told them it was okay, and alas, some titles got deleted. That's the issue with site instability like this. Some people are fine, others are not.

Credibility:
- This is why I'm going to be making a thread on the history of issues I've seen. Because some people think I'm lying about other users having issues.
- Literally almost everything except for the email is people using their experience and what they've seem to make sense of the situation, even Suujin's FAQ. Though it turned out to be accurate information, it was born from speculation as an experienced person.
- This is the most we can do as the developers aren't making any statements. I added this as a disclaimer because I realised people weren't understanding that. Especially as it's very unlikely we get a statement any time soon. They're not even responding to emails.

I understand where you're coming from. I'd be suspicious too if everything was fine on my end. And I'm also a nobody. I was suspicious of everyone's information especially after an account claimed to be the developers.

Issues with lists still ongoing:
- Now that I've seen at least one person experience issues arise citing other people claiming it was fine, I am against the narrative that it's completely okay to edit your lists.
- If you do advise people to edit their lists, *please* at least tell them to exert some caution by checking each work was properly entered and create a backup. (IMPORTANT IMO)

Sorry, long read, but I really have a lot to say on this situation.
Especially as I went through 100 pages of comments with people advising it was safe.
I was almost about to edit my FAQ to say it seems safe due to everyone saying they had no issues in the past few days. Also, because all issues I'd seen this past month were lowkey minor.
But then someone had an issue again. Even if the issue seemed minor to me, it still caused panic for the people experiencing it. Especially as others told them it'd be safe.

I hope this doesn't sound mean, I usually just type very corporate and I'm very frustrated right now trying to compile all the information I have right now. I know all of you mean well, so I don't blame you.

You're most likely fine. I've moved things around, added things, deleted things, and everything is working normally for me.

You've added over ~120 works please back stuff up in case anything happens.
I'm advising against people adding stuff to lists because I've seen issues, but if you faced no issues adding stuff now good! Back it up now. You might face issues down the line.

I still am advising people to not touch their lists, but I understand I can't stop people. If you face any issues with any of these works disappearing tomorrow, or any issue at all please DM me. If you face issued because you weren't careful, I say tough luck

I'm reading this back, and I think I kinda come across as mean, so I'm sorry. I've just had people calling me a liar left and right recently. You can't satisfy people, so I might as well give them the warning and let them believe in what they want. The site is more stable than it initially was, but that doesn't mean it still isn't facing issues.

I never tagged my lists so I know they are not comming back but still not marking them on want to read now reading already read lists in case it corrupts more files in your end . I only ask of you guys can u pelase send site wide message after recovery ended so we can fix our lists ? even tho I bookmarked ur faq post so I can check on whats going on. it would have been nice to get message confirmation .

One person on a different thread said they got everything back even untagged stuff. They said they had about 1.2k on their lists and got every single thing back along w notifications without doing anything. I dont know what to make of this now.

Before the disk containing lists data crashed, they recovered read receipts up to ~2022.
That might be it.
But otherwise, the proof that we're only getting rated/tagged works back is literally the only confirmed information we've gotten from devs since the site crash. I should've saved all the comments that corroborated this evidence, but I did not.

If I'm being totally honest, it's been almost a month now, after the first semi-accurate update, aside from one automated email we have no news so it's really, at this point, up to everyone's discretion on what they do. No one can guide you as no one has any further information to share other than month old news and an automated Dev email.

I personally took a risk and added my new reading to my lists after I had everything restored. I have experienced no issues so far. I hope it stays that way lol. But since we heard nothing from devs, I wasn't going to wait months uncertain on doing anything - and I took that risk. I think we're all at a point now where we all need to decide for ourselves on what to do, as none of us have any official answers to provide. Please do correct me if there ARE up to date official answers, but I haven't seen any. (⌒▽⌒)

Yes to all of this!!! We have had only one verified email from the devs/mods and it said NOTHING about not using your lists. After the restoration process "ended", I have had zero problems adding, deleting, and moving things in my lists. Quite frankly, this site has always had issues even before this. If we all stopped using lists just because a handful of people were still experiencing issues, we would all be waiting until the end of time.

I've made a major update to my advice and changed my stance. Please read.

I've been in Mangago since 2015~ish, my lists are the same since the 1st recovery (it stopped adding around Jan 27th), didn't see any "2nd phase" and I don't want to send a mail to the devs because they're probably working hard as it is... I personally choose not to touch the want/reading/read list, but I did make a new custom list adding everything that weren't added in the recovery.
Please keep updating this post, it helps a lot!

I think I have permanently altered my account cause I didnt know you weren't supposed to add to "already read" and now my 1000+ have stayed at 700 something for many months. Is there any chance it can be restored ever?
