Anyone else get a pet peeve when official translations completely get rid of any use of honorifics? Like, things like hyung, ahjusshi, noona, sunbae, -nim, -chan, -kun, -san, -sama, gege, and every other honorific you can think of? Like, I feel like it’s just as important to the story, since it signifies how close a character is to each other. But they always either omit it or change it to something else that doesn’t describe the exact feeling the original gave? Like, I sometimes have to replace it in my head or I only read the unofficial translations since they keep the honorifics.
Like, I get it because of localization or some people might not know what they mean, but that’s what translator notes are for?? Idk, I just get peeved by it and it makes me so sad when the official translations or any available translation localizes the hell out of the English translation.
Though, I understand beggars can’t be choosers and this is such a first world problem, but I still feel sad about it and wonder if anybody feels the same or does anyone prefer when they leave the honorifics out? Just wondering why and stuff.
Also dislike it when they change the currency to American dollars. Like, PLEASE JUST GIVE ME TRANSLATION NOTES INSTEAD. IM BEGGING YOU.

I agree! I especially dislike when they try to replace hyung with bro or something. It's just not the same. There simply aren't any English language equivalents for most of these honorifics and good translators recognize that and preserve them while explaining the meaning in notes.
I do feel like most recent official translations I see have been keeping honorofics and other cultural terms in the translation so yay for that

Like it makes no sense and then the translator has to create a whole page to explain it all because they didn’t have that from the beginning like it could’ve been fixed all from the beginning if you kept the original! It also makes the moment so much more special!! It’s part of the culture so it really sucks when they change it ;;

I was wondering if there were any updates from the mangago team about whether reviews were coming back? One of my favorite things was reading them since it helped me get a feel about whether to read a story or not. I also like reading spoilers so I know who to root for or trust in a story lol. Plus, they usually had the synopsis for a story when mangago doesn’t have it ;;

The only work around that I've found is scrolling down and reading the comments. I also check to see what the most popular tags are that people added for each story.

Bro, I swear that every time I see a reincarnation or isekai bl manhwa with good art, it’s always a harem. Like, why is it always a harem??? I don’t like harems cause it still feels like cheating to me half the time and my pick never actually wins lol. But seriously, I can only think of like one bl about reincarnation with good art. No hate to people who like harem manhwas of course. It’s just my own personal taste, since I just dislike the harem genre in general(it just feels too icky for my personally) though, there are def some good ones out there.
I also hate harems so if you're looking into non-harem actions there are lists for that. There's also the all genre page where you can find all sorts of genres and you can tap the icon box on the left of the genres listed, tap 2 times because the first one will be a check mark and the second one will be an x mark.

Just wondering, but am I the only one that prefers lightsabers over uncensored dicks in bls? Like… idk how to describe it, but sometimes the way the dick is drawn can become really jarring. Like, if it’s too detailed or if it’s not detailed enough, compared to the art style.
Also, I feel like the uncensored version of the dicks always change the sizing of the dicks on the characters lol. Like I read both versions of a bl once and in the uncensored version suddenly showed a panel where the uke’s dick was like way bigger than it usually is and it made me laugh lol. It also does the opposite sometimes, and I feel like it’s because there’s perspective on the lightsabers that the redrawer doesn’t take into account, or maybe just dick anatomy being weird lol—
Idk, there’s not a lot of quality control I feel like. But saying there isn’t enough quality control on dicks in bls sounds hella stupid lol.
Just wondering if I’m the only one who actively searches for the censored version if there is a uncensored version available lol XD

I completely agree, sometimes it’s nicer to imagine it instead of seeing it and that’s just how it is even if it’s ugly or unfitting. And it really throws me off when it’s been colored bright red in manhwa, so unsettling. You’re not crazy lol, I feel ya!

i think that's because of two reasons:
1. getting used to seeing censored dihs/lightsabers. i lowkey get caught off guard a LOT whenever i see uncensored yaoi, solely because i'm just too used to seeing it like some white glowy thing.
2. it's drawn badly. i've seen veeeeery few bls/gls where the genitals actually looks like genitals and not some unrealistic alien body part. that just looks weird in general, plus, they're hard to draw so i don't even blame the author lmao

You are not alone, I actually recoil when I see it uncensored. That's why I only read the fan translations. Officials tend to be uncensored while unofficials are usually censored
Yeah, I think officials usually have two versions, and the saints that spend their own money on those sites and then posts them here usually chooses the uncensored version.
Though, I usually choose fan translations because of how sometimes the official translation westernizes a ton of terms and phrases.(like getting rid of honorifics and stuff)

Does anybody else get annoyed when there’s a story where Mc transmigrated as someone who treated the original ml horribly, and they decide to befriend them instead? Like, not in a “im sorry I did that,” way. Instead, it’s the “OMG! Hey ml! Do you want to do these things and hang out with me today? Here’s some good food! We’re totally best friends now!” type of way. They just pretend like they don’t remember the original owner of the body was like whipping the ml a day prior or something. It always gets on my nerves. Like, yes, they didn’t do it themselves, but the way they act always gets the ml on guard, and it almost feels like a form of love-bombing after abuse. It’s just so tone-deaf to see the mc just basically be stalking the ml to befriend them. Like, you couldn’t think of any other way to stop yourself from dying?
Like, I love it when stories show the person feeling apprehensive about approaching the ml, because they know what the original body had done. They understand that them suddenly going up and saying they should be friends is so fucked up and will obviously disturb the ml.
Idk, I don’t think I worded it well, but that trope just annoys the hell out of me…
And again, the ml falling in love ends up feeling like a trauma response from his aggressor suddenly love-bombing him imo.

I was listening to the song escape (the do you like pina coladas song) and I suddenly wondered if there was a story like that. Like, a romfan where two people who are in an arranged marriage and due to misunderstandings and their family’s backgrounds(like maybe they’re enemies), they despise each other and refuse to know more about each other(like even their first encounter was horrible). However, they then get into contact somehow(like with secret identities) and the more they talk, they both start falling in love with each other. However, they know they can never be together(their secret identities) because they’re both already married, so they have to keep their distance(ensue angst). Throughout the story, they then realize that the person they fell in love with is each other and they both feel stupid at the end, because if they just communicated like regular people, this wouldn’t have happened lol.
One of my least favorite tropes that I need to shout out into the void:
Super cool and powerful female lead who’s known as all-powerful. However, she suddenly dies or switches body with a super weak girl and she can’t use any of her previous strength.
Like, why even say she’s super powerful when she isn’t super powerful for the majority of the story??
