I have two strictly indoor cats. My orange boy used to be indoor/outdoor. I found him as a stray, and he initially refused to be stuck inside. He had claimed the whole neighborhood as his territory, and he wasn't about to be imprisoned. However, he was getting older. He started to lose fights and came home with injuries more frequently. This did no......   reply

My cat is so introverted, so even if I open my front door she just curiously look at our porch, but if there's someone outside she'll immediately dashes inside. So even if we let her out, she's too afraid of the outside(^o^;). She's afraid of people and also other cats, even if they are smaller than her(ToT). Hence, she's just automatically an indo......   reply

yes, but it depends on the cat, my first cat I let outside she only stayed in our yard, lived to 20 years old no issue, she was very smart and liked to keep to herself. my seconded cat however isn't smart and insists on wondering around he has to be on a harness.   1 reply

I want my cat to live for a long time, so no. Outdoor cats usually die earlier. Also, cats have absolutely devastating effects on ecosystems because they’re one of the most efficient hunters + they have an unusually sadistic prey drive. If I had a rodent problem or a farm or something then sure I’d have an outdoor cat. But not just for no reaso......   reply

one of my cats is deaf and resorts to meowing loudly whenever she comes into contact with the outside world, the other is a total coward who ran away to hide under some narrow space last time she found herself outside, and the last one is too aware/sensitive to her surroundings to be put outside where there's relatively a lot going on all at once........   reply

I live close to a national park. There are a lot of coyotes and birds of prey in my city so outdoor cats don't last very long out here. So no, even though I really believe cats should be allowed to go outside because it's in their nature to be outside doing things. So I am leash training my cat.   reply

No, we want her to live a long, healthy life with us. She gets backyard walks with a leash though, but she doesn't crave the outside world.   reply

All of my family’s cats have been strictly indoor, except one. We owned him from before I can remember, and he would spend time outside and come and go. One time he even disappeared for two months, and we were worried sick, but he just randomly reappeared on our porch. When I was about 8, he ended up making his way to the road and got run over an......   reply

No, and I recommend keeping cats mostly indoors since people can't be trusted. I've had a couple of my past cats die from people poisoning them, and they usually live longer if you keep them indoors since they can't get ticks or hunt wild animals and get diseases like bird flu.   reply
