I did feel like it for a few years, my tastes changed, I didn't feel like reading romance, I was mostly reading shonen and barely reading any manga anyway. I also felt the lack of good ones translated to english at that time, most of the stuff left that I didn't read was too silly/bad. Well this was like, 4-5 years ago, or even more.
And then came ...... reply
Hmm, I had that same experience a couple years ago. For me I was just caught up in my own problems to even bother with yaoi. Didn't have the time or interest for it especially since they all seemed like the same plot to me. But here I am now back at it again. I also thought I outgrew it's appeal but all it took was one bored night and a beautifully...... reply
Tastes always changed. As for me I once thought I was bored with yaoi but turns out I wasn't. Instead I get bored of it for a while and I go days without reading anything then I come back and start binge reading. Also my tastes have shifted towards shounen ai webtoons. reply
Nope. I can never outgrow yaoi. It's one of the things that give my life a meaning, something to look forward to since I'm depressed and don't have many friends. Also it's so fucking cute, like how can one just stop reading it just like that?? reply
Eh, romantic manga/comics isn't for everyone. As a guy that likes guys, I doubt I'll get tired of yaoi (bc its often really cute and I enjoy seeing boys being affectionate ofc). But then again, I'm old enough that I would've probably outgrown it already if I didn't like it. reply
Honestly i thought I outgrew it too. But I found some good manga/manhwa/manhua's, and I'm hooked on the stories. There's a lot of trash stories and your tastes mature over time so trying to reread things you used to like seems like a waste of time. There's good yaoi manga with that golden plot it just depends there's more trash than gold that's for...... reply
I used to read so much yaoi everyday, obsessively. But these days I find myself rolling my eyes and rushing through the chapters to finish them quickly, or I'll just stop reading. Recently I tried rereading one of my favorite shounen ai manga and I wish I hadn't. I think it has largely to do with exposure to a lot of other literature. Man, and I thought I was going to be reading yaoi all my life.
I was 12 and my first yaoi was Viewfinder. I never read/watched yaoi or shounen ai before that so I didn't know what to expect. By god. The first chapter shocked me so much that I immediately closed the tab so that no one around me saw what I stumbled on to. I have been hooked since then and I am 22 now. ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄ (≧...... 2 reply
