Honestly, people who fetishise gay people, should really not be reading yaoi, but it is wrong to judge the many who do not over the actions of the few who do.
As long as the yaoi itself isn't fetishising and the reader is supportive of the LGBT+ community, it's completely wrong to destroy a genre over what might be. 2 reply
Just because said medium may affect s.o. in some way in doesn’t mean you are the authority that gets to dictate how it affects them. Everyone should decide by themselves. I am LGBT+ myself, and whilst I sort-of get where you're coming from, also think about what "it's just fiction" means.
"It's just fiction" doesn't mean "I agree with those practices", "it's just fiction" doesn't mean "that doesn't happen in the real world", it means that a story is a story, it is an escape from reality - it isn't a true depiction o...... 4 reply
