Hard pill to swallow?
Going jewelry or clothing shopping and seeing outrageous prices (from trustworthy and small brands) and realizing that it can’t be cheap because you can’t get cheap things without either using exploitation or cheap materials— so I just suck it up and start saving or look for second hand.
Majority of clothing these days is of such bad quality, it's infuriating. And it's all due to the death of the small scale artisan. I've taken it upon myself to support local businesses, and i rarely buy anything that isn't hand stiched by a boutique these days, the only thing I buy from big brand names are probably jeans.
