Should Straight people not read yaoi ?
Their are people on twitter who say yaoi is fetishizing of gay couples .. I been reading yaoi for long time and I have never disrespect or fetishize any gay people in real life , I may have ship some kpop idols or anime characters but everyone else did it .. to me I like yaoi and I don't even know why it just make me happy when I read it .. so what wrong with that ?
Why can't straight girls like and read yaoi ? How should I respond to those accusations made by those people ?

I don’t think most people realise Yaoi is actually targeted toward straight women and regardless nobody has the right to decide what they want to read as long as they and honestly all sexuality’s included don’t fetishise gay men and input on others relationships in the real world it’s not really anyone else’s business what straight women ...... 1 reply
There's nothing wrong with reading yaoi. Does it always depict healthy relationships? No. But that doesn't matter because it's fiction. There's plenty of stories out there with abusive straight couples and all kinds of things. For that matter anything deemed problematic for fetishizing is plain stupid. I'm gay and yes I think anyone is allowed to read whatever he/she wants. Though I do honestly feel awkward knowing the fact that some straight people like yaoi and other gay stuffs. But everything is fine as long as you don't take fiction to far.

That’s like saying shoujo fetishizes straight people. It’s just a fictional story and while a lot of authors are women, there are also men who create yaoi content. Overall it’s a ridiculous claim because you can say it about anything, horror stories fetishise serial killers etc. 2 reply
