cracker has the same meaning as redneck, so it can be derogatory but it’s not racist to say because white people are not oppressed, they are the oppressors. I think that the word comes from people who used loud whips to drive cattle or control enslaved people, like “cracking the whip” evolved into calling poor redneck white people “crackers...... 1 reply
