Do you guys think there's a particular reason baseball is so prevalent in BLs?
I replied to a question like two weeks ago saying "Baseball is gay and basketball is straight" and what i meant by that is how prevalent baseball is in bls and basketball is shoujos. Ive been thinking about it but other than the kind of funny coincidence of the terms Pitcher and Catcher being used to mean top and bottom i can't think of what could be the reason these sports are chosen for specific romantic genres
logistically speaking, they both work out for their genres in terms of meeting opportunities and the conflicts they introduce.
both emphasize the physical prowess(masculinity) and discipline (or lack of it) of the character(s) who play, and give the homosocial(brotherhood) angle which helps in baseball/bl (more time together) vs basketbal/shoujo(ti...... reply
