What are your guilty pleasure tropes and why?
I’m a sucker for hate-to-love/enemies-to-lovers. I’m guessing it’s because my mother really dislikes me and made sure I knew this even as a kid, so that trope feels healing to my inner child. I also like OP protagonists, who still appeal to me despite (or because?) being a recovered perfectionist lol lastly I’m often drawn to stories with pining, yearning, and/or regret…. I’m still unpacking why I like that trope so much.
Curious to hear what cheesy tropes other readers enjoy and why!!
The crazy/psycho/cold/arrogant/whatever you want to call them falling in love for the first time, but only when the other half is not a doormat and they’re also not an a-hole (one a-hole is enough).
So for example, in Arts Manz, the jerk ended up being tamed, but the guy who tamed him was also a manipulative asshole, so I don’t care for that. 1 reply
