Have you guys ever had a fake friend? Well, here's my experience.

I went through some mental health stuff and ended up dropping out of school for a bit. My friends were supportive in their own way, but never really asked why. I didn't mind that, it's not really their job to fix me.

One day I was kinda struggling and at a point where I just wanted to die, and I told one of them. First time I'd ever opened up like that. She said she'd pray for me and left me on delivered. After that I just kind of stopped venting to her.

My other friend already knew I was struggling, she'd give advice but nothing I hadn't already heard before, and she used to stick up for me when people talked crap, so I did appreciate her. But after I dropped out, we just naturally drifted, calls got less frequent, texts got shorter. I know she was busy with school too, so it wasn't all on her.

When I’d ask to hang out, they’d say they were busy but then post them hanging out with other friends on their story. They also never came to my birthdays, they said they were busy but again, I saw them posted up with other friends. They'd also talked crap about me before, multiple times actually. It used to bother me a lot, but after a while I just kind of got used to it.

Now that I've graduated, it feels like we've drifted even more. And it's a little awkward since we still live in the same town and run into each other sometimes.

Anyway, are my friends fake, or am I just reading into it too much? And did you ever have fake friends? What was your experience with them like.

Why does everyone want to die? No, that’s not it. Nobody actually wants to die. What they want is for the pain to stop, and somewhere along the way, “I want the pain to stop” got twisted into “I want to die.” Those aren’t the same thing. Not even close.

I’ve watched so many people, young people especially, throw those words around like they weigh nothing. Like saying “I want to die” is just another way of saying “I’m tired” or “this sucks.” It’s not a light sentence. It’s not a punchline. Words like that land on people. They spread. And when someone hears it enough times, said carelessly enough times, it stops sounding like a cry for help and starts sounding like an option.

And then there are the ones who go further, who tell people to just do it, like life is something you can return once you’re bored of it. Like intolerable is the same as impossible. It’s not. Some things in life are genuinely brutal. Nobody’s denying that. But brutal isn’t the whole story, there are still things that make it bearable. A song. A person. A morning that doesn’t feel as heavy as the one before. You don’t need a grand reason to keep going. Sometimes “I’ll see what tomorrow looks like” is reason enough.

When you’re young, your brain lies to you. It tells you this feeling is permanent, that this version of unbearable is forever. It’s not. Life can feel like drowning, like you can’t breathe, like you’ve stopped being a person and become just a mess of emotion. But that IS being human. That’s the deal. Nobody gets to skip the hard parts and keep the rest.

So, do you need a reason to live? No. You don’t need a five year plan or a purpose statement. Life is actually more interesting without one. It’s consciousness. the fact that you’re aware, that you get to feel and think and connect to something outside yourself. That awareness is the whole point. As long as you’re conscious, there’s something left to lose, and something left to gain.

The past is just a memory now. The future hasn’t happened yet, it’s still imaginary, still yours to shape. So keep imagining it. Work toward it. Look at your life from an angle you haven’t tried yet. It’s beautiful if you let it be.

So I’ll ask again, but for real this time, why does anyone think giving up is the answer? It isn’t. It never was. The only way to die painlessly is to wait for your time to come and live life without regrets.

What’s the most overrated manhwa in your opinion? And don’t just say the same 5 manhwa we’ve all heard before.

Imo the forgotten fields, unsleep, red thread quest, (as much as I enjoyed it I have to say it was underwhelming), and melting point are overrated. (Don’t shoot me)

Genuine question, why are people racist or homophobic? I really don't get it. I know some people point to "statistics," but I don't think race or ethnicity determines whether someone's a good person, a bad person is just a bad person, regardless of background.

Is it some kind of moral-superiority complex? There's a saying that fits, "a society of sinners judging others for sinning differently." So genuinely, what do people even get out of being racist or homophobic?

When I see someone of a different color walking down the street, I don't think "ew, they're this or that." I really don't get it, and honestly I'm kind of confused. I have a hard time understanding things and emotions sometimes, but genuinely, what's wrong with having a different skin tone, or being LGBTQ?

I know certain skin colors are treated as a beauty standard in certain countries, and I've heard some people are racist because certain ethnicities or races don't fit those standards. But I think beauty standards are idealistic and nonsensical, I genuinely believe everyone is beautiful in their own way. I think people care too much about what others think. The only way to truly know whether you're attractive is by forming your own perception of yourself. If you think you're ugly, you're ugly. If you think you're beautiful, you're beautiful. Nobody can deem someone else attractive or unattractive, because beauty is subjective, everyone has different views and opinions. But still, I really don't get it, what's wrong with being a different ethnicity or sexuality? What’s your opinions and thoughts on this.

What are some controversial opinions/takes you have?

Here are mine:
Take 1: People who respond to criticism of taboo themes with “just don’t read it” or call you “woke” are being just as entitled as they accuse critics of being. Comments are open so people can discuss and critique, by that logic, if you don’t like the criticism, just don’t read the comments. It’s also weird how personally some of these people take it, getting angrier than the actual criticism, almost like they feel called out (and given their profile/reading history, they probably are). Another dodge is “you’re not criticizing the story, you’re criticizing the readers”, but if the story is something like shotacon, yeah, criticizing readers who defend it is fair. Continuing to read something doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to feel uncomfortable with it.

Take 2: That said, not everyone who reads dark/taboo media is bad or endorses it. “Well you read dark stuff too” isn’t the gotcha people think it is, some people seek out dark themes for representation (as an SA survivor, that matters to me), others just like the psychological genre and are still allowed to critique what it gets wrong.

Bring back media literacy. Stop harassing people for having opinions.

What are your opinions/takes? (=・ω・=)
