I'm 25, and I can't stand shota. The few times I've visited the homepage of myreadingmanga, I've seen cover images of children in explicit poses, and it's disgusting. There's drawings of babies drawn in the same way... literal babies! I've never read shota and honestly I can live my entire life without ever having to. Yes I'm aware it's fiction and...... 2 reply
I read shota from time to time. It sometimes disgust me. Sometimes not really. But I don't think it shouldn't exist because of that. If it disgusts you then just don't read it. If people enjoy it, that doesn't make them shotacons or perverts, and it doesn't mean they enjoy children's rape and suffering in rl. This is fiction, after all. Sometimes p...... 2 reply
As a grown-ass woman with a healthy sexuality who finds art/comics/manga to be so far-removed from real life, I enjoy shota occasionally, but I do have my limits. I’ve seen some that make me horribly uncomfortable, but depictions of straight relationships in manga make me uncomfortable too and I’m presently in a relationship with a man, and I d...... reply
This is a long response, but if you actually are curious about the issue, please read on. I wish we could more freely discuss these issues as a culture without stigma and projection.
Let me just start by saying that I have a complicated reaction to it on a personal level, in that it disgusts me most when the child is portrayed as enjoying what's ...... 2 reply
I don't really read shota or loli, but I don't have a visceral reaction about its existence, either. To each there own, I guess. I was looking for a European study( it was Dutch, or Swedish or some such) I read about where they researched if graphic drawings of kids exarcebated pedophillic tendencies so I could link it here. Anyway, from what I rem...... 2 reply
I don't think it should be made. Ever. It's gross and panders to actual predators. It slowly paints these people's sick fantasies as normal, and that can be harmful to actual children when a pedo wants to experience it first hand instead of in comic form. And I know that the counter argument is the age of consent of other countries, but it's still ...... 1 reply
It gives me panic attacks and feels seriously wrong too. Even if its fiction and I get that people should be free to make what they like, shota-kon is just pushing it too far :(
However, you are misunderstanding Japan's age of consent. This table will explain how it works more clearly:

It is different for each couple. Yet it is the same. When you find your person you will went to put all your effort into making them happy. Not to say everything will be all rose colored glasses fighting is also part of the relationship I am not saying have knock down drag out fights but yelling at each other is ok just keep in mind never to put on...... 1 reply
So I've been thinking what does make you think that you want to spend your life with someone. Its just that so many people around me are getting married and I just don't understand how can you spend (or at least try to) the rest of your life with just that person. When do you know for sure that you're reading to give your time and strength (...) To only That person? How do you describe that feeling?
I know it's a very personal matter...so I apologise for my rudeness to ask this. Maybe it's cause I lack age that I don't comprehend how can i see ,and live my life with that one person EVERY DAY for the rest of my life? I'm 100% that I'll get tiered...I guess marriage or commitment is much harder than I thought. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ I hope at least someone gives me an answer( I can just imagine everyone going "what the heck with this topic...( ̄∇ ̄")) Anyway, thank you for reading this (and it's ok if you don't reply)
Honestly it gives me ptsd and the art is over the top sometimes which just makes it disgusting. Almost all of the plots are terrible and involve rape or cross dressing which they just use as a kink and it needs to fucking stop. There shouldn't even be a such thing as 12/13 consent because not every kid knows everything. Not gonna say the US is any ...... 1 reply
shota is a genre just like horror and science fiction are all of them being portrayed in fictional works., so should be taken lightly imo
I mean i love watching the walking dead for example but there's no way in hell i'd wish to be in the characters's shoes even for a nano second irl
But to each their own i don't mind nor like it personally...

I’m not comfortable with it. I’ve read a buncha Minami Haruka stuff which looks shota-y but I always kinda thought it was okay since they’re not actually children. Now when ya get into like the sexual preteens and younger, uh uh, nope! I can’t read some Harada stuff. Seems like she writes about like the terribleness of pedophillia (maybe) b...... 2 reply
I never knew Shotacon existed until I stumbled upon a manga that was supposed to be 'shotacon', the cover portrayed the character as way older and in a much bigger body but upon reading the first page you find out the boy is actually about to be a middle schooler with an older man in his twenties chasing after him. Now after looking up the definiti...... reply
I took GED and now i'm in my 3rd term of my 1st year in university.
I took the test because my teacher advised me too, he said I had nothing left to learn in highschool, so just skip it and go to university.
Honestly, I don't regret it. I still keep in contact with my friends from highschool and i've also widened my circle of friends with the new f...... reply
Shota refers mostly to their appearance and not theyre actual age. Looking young but actually being older. So yes I do like.
For example in anime like Free Iwatobi the shota of the group would be Nagisa, he isn't a small child, he's already a high schooler. But his cute looks, body frame, and higher pitched voice defines him as one. 3 reply
I went to an alternative school. I dropped out at 17 because my anxiety was to bad for regular school anyways it was basically home schooling at a community center with tutors who taught us what we needed to know for exams and then they took us to the school board to do the exams. Was so much easier 10 am til 2-3 pm with 6-7 students. My French cla...... 1 reply
