Def made for quick cliche snack. You stay for the drama and for the serotonin you get from witnissing FL and her boyfriend be lovey-dovey with each other. Typical ordinary-girl-possessed villainess business, the bad guys turn good, the heroine turns into a snake and they get into each others way bc yes. It's fast paced, and while the characters are pretty shallow, all of them still move around each other in interesting enough ways to keep you going.
I personally got bored by FL and ML acting all romantic. They speak about whatever and throw in random lovey-dovey dialogue, and I just want them to tackle plot stuff instead of being stuck in a random place talking about their marriage plans, AGAIN.

Big yikes. The bottom has no standards, no actual personality besides liking his job, and he wiplashes everyone within a 1km radius with his constant attitude changes towards his feelings for the top. BTW if you like the top then please, wake up. I don't think you understand, this alpha guy is basically the anime version of Andrew Tate, which is not a good thing.
He has the guts to have temper tantrums about being abandoned by his *rape victim*. Disgusting.

This kind of became a classic in my heart. I remember crying when I first read this, though in hindsight I'm not too impressed by the story now that I'm rereading it. It's a predictable storyline.

With that said, isn't Oscar selfish? Because of their connection Rene had to live several lives without any true love or marriage. That itself doesn't mean she was off bad, but you can read yourself how her attempts to find someone, or just catching someone's attention can fire back horribly. What made him wait to make a move for all these life times? Why not just cut their connection if he feels like a burden in her life? Either he is an asshole or a big wimp, and if I was Rene I would be lowkey mad at him for doing nothing but spamming her with "please stay single" for several generations without having the heart to commit to anything. At least that's how I feel about him.

I already found the first chapters to be kinda jarring. Idk why but I had a hard time getting into the story and characters. It's difficult to describe- Like, when it was shown how Elze collected all her mercanery companions I was hella confused at first because it cut to one meeting into the next without context. Not to mention that this one meeting with the archer was confusing because it just looked like she jumped up to the guy, they talked a bit and then the archer chose to abandon the country he was fighting for out of the blue lol. I was supposed to get attached to the FL but her backstory was handled as if going through a checklist. Not to mention, her reason for not telling her future husband about her secret identity is nonesense. You'll share title and land in the future, why would he go on to tell everyone his wife's a mercenary when it's oh so damaging to *their* reputation (he also owes her a whole lot)? Anywho, why would her having talent in swordsmanship be that bad to begin with? The story does nothing to explain it, besides talking about basic sexism. Honestly, how could exposing the fact that she can handle swords and own a mercanery group be that fatal anyhow? Everyone already knew that her family lost all their wealth and she became a peddler, aka VERY far from an ideal noble. There was no valid reason for all that drama about her identity until the Crown Prince decided he wants to get rid of her guild and second identity.
This story also has a very strong "she's not like other girls" vibe added onto the normal Mary Sue character. Similarly to my issues with her backstory, the plot in general is handled poorly and makes you question everyone's intellegence.
