This manhwa is just so good omg!! But I should have really let it marinate some more cause now I can't contain myself and stop from wondering what will happen next!! So many open fronts, the emperor's uncle and his hidden ambition, the empress's father and his schemes, that princess maid, the love lines...I really hope the siblings and the emperor/empress can find happiness in the end!!
I guess it's time to re-read and savour this rather unique manhwa all over again ~

To sum it up : Today’s chapter was SO good the chemistry between Yeonwu and Rosa was insanely unmatched in this one and Yeonwu asking why she stopped liking him when he saw Jaeon's hickey with puppy eyes has me in a choke hold! Also that basically confirmed to Rosa that he remembers her even though in the past he denied it...I have so many thoughts right now...
Him being confident in his "skills" and saying to Rosa "Does this feel good enough?" with a smirk???!! And her replying "And what if I say it doesn't?" When on the inside she said this was the first time she felt like this (poor Jaeon) lol
Also Jaeon noticed that Rosa might have a crush...Cause he realised in their latest make out session she had her eyes closed(cause she was imagining Yeonwu) and he was all hot and bothered sigh...
Like they are both so freaky and their bander was peak in this chapter... And as I said Yeonwu is definitely not all wasted and he does feel smth deeper for Rosa!
Now imagine when things get better between them and finally communicate and speak about everything to one another... Cannot wait!!
But based on today's chapter I can see how the future BDSM scenes can work well with these two!! The author is already giving us crumbs.

I don’t think Yeonwu was as clouded in this scene as some say at least not in the same way he was that night at the party. Suryeon drugged him the night before but by the time Rosa found him, he seemed relatively sober?He was coherent enough to think about Jaeon and connect the dots between him and Rosa just from seeing the shirt and even hold a coherent conversation in the middle of everything unlike that night at the party that everything was a blur.
What confuses me though is the contrast in his reactions. At the party, even while high and being dragged around, he showed very clear signs of trauma with disgust on his face, goosebumps, physically pushing the gardener and that rich woman away. His body language screamed rejection. But with Rosa here there was none of that same visible resistance aside from the verbal one. He didn’t react the same way at all and that makes it questionable...Why couldn’t he push her away the way he did with the others? But ofc by that I don't mean that what Rosa did wasn't pushing his boundaries and leading to non-con.
I just feel like there might be more going on internally especially considering their shared past.
Also his line in today's chapter “Thanks for the help. I will… just think of it like that… so let’s stop here before someone hears” felt less like distress over what was happening and more like concern about being caught and a plead.
And then there’s the moment where he finishes right after Rosa degrades/insults him. It almost seems like he’s developed a response tied to humiliation which could well connect to his past trauma when working at the host bar and the mother’s behavior towards him. Which is sad but also feels like an intentional detail left by the author maybe to explain the future bdsm acts? Idk...

Well, it is a dark fantasy, action shounen manga, and to sum it up as accurately as possible, I shall quote a famous tweet; Kagurabachi is literally if "Oppenheimer had a son that was like 'I need to collect and disarm every single nuke in the world' but he kept getting jumped by dudes going 'Bro I loved your Dad so much, no one made nukes like him man'." IF THIS DOESN'T MAKE YOU EVEN A BIT CURIOUS ABOUT THIS MASTERPIECE, THEN I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WOULD!!
• I hate to sound like one of those annoying animanga fans that are like "erm akshually, the anime/manga gets better after episode 632/chapter 236," but honestly give Kagurabachi at least a fair try and read the first, the VS Sojo arc (chapters 1-18), OR try to read until the end of the second, the Rakuzaichi arc (chapters 19-44) since that's when the manga starts to really pick up the plot, and if you still don't like it, then oh well! At least you gave it a shot!
• Kagurabachi's biggest strengths:
+ two page spreads and panel work/composition that are very distinctive and beautiful
+ gorgeous artstyle that evolves with each new chapter
+ masterfully crafted action sequences and fight choreographies
+ simple but interesting power system
+ perfect blend of storytelling, heavy themes, comedic relief, character development, and hype moments/aura farming
+ all characters are written pretty realistically, all have their individual flaws and strengths, both the good and the bad guys
+ although there are fantastical/supernatural elements, the author already stated the core conflict of the story will be a human vs. human based conflict, so no hidden ass pulls/random plot twists such as "erm akshually, it was the aliens from planet Xyzytysel who were pulling the strings behind the scenes"
+ doesn't shy away from more serious topics, such as war and their consequences on both the civilians and the veterans who fought in it, creating and using weapons of mass destruction, the morality and ethics of genocide, etc.
+ SO MANY GORGEOUS WOMEN AND BEAUTIFUL MEN
+ reading Kagurabachi doesn't even feel like I'm reading a manga, it honestly feels more like I'm watching a movie, it's so fucking tenoí!
+ chill fanbase that is cool with fujoshis/fudanshis and shipping culture
• Every piece of fiction, no matter how peak it is or how much you subjectively love it, is not immune to criticism, and sadly Kagurabachi is no exception - here are some flaws you should be aware of:
× a lot less focus on and involvement of (most) side characters
× not enough down-time between arcs
× introducing characters with their full government names, occupation and cool designs only to kill them off literally the next chapter
× small nitpick, but some, especially important to the plot, characters get their names revealed WAY TOO LATE (looking at you, Hatshaku... mf was introduced in the 1st chapter, we've already reached triple-digit chapters and we STILL don't know his name)

The author posted another thread on their acc earlier after getting spammed with complaints...AGAIN! Can they leave her alone omg it's just a manhwa!!
Anyway she said :
1. The ML won't change however many times ppl ask the answer will remain the same! There is no love triangle here it's just Yeonwu and Rosa! No Suryeon or Jaeon in the mix! Yeonwu will be the only ML for Rosa because she has a clear ending she wants to see and draw already in their mind(praying for a good ending tho idk what she has in mind TT)! And she even said " I’m mentioning this because I suspect the misunderstandings arose from nuances lost in the translation process".
(Nah she is too kind it's just ppl not taking a hint imo)
2. Toy Daddy will be BDSM! With various plays and toys/tools... It's just that right now it's still in the beginning so it hasn't happened YET. But it's under that category since there will be in the future. Since FL has just started to acknowledge her sadistic nature... The author just believed it's wise to add the tag from the beginning that's all.
3. Since it's a slow burn she wanted to focus more on developing the plot and the characters first before diving into those scenes so that she can give an explanation for Rosa's behaviour/actions later and how she ends up going down the BDSM road with Yeonwu who we will get to see as male-sub. So those bdsm scenes are delayed for now but will be drawn in the future. I guess after there is SOME progress to Rosa-Yeonwu.
4. The author also said she reads most of the comments she gets or sees to receive feedback and see if the readers can understand her intentions. But I really hope she can still draw this manhwa the way she wants without being affected by some of the negative!
She also said she is grateful for all the attention and love her work is getting! ^^
We finally got a bit more information about Suryeon and her so-called “relationship” with Yeonwu and honestly… it’s now crystal clear they’re not in this for the same reasons. Suryeon is exactly the psycho, creepy b*tch I clocked back in chapter 1! No sane mother would pull the shit she did on Rosa and the way she treats Yeonwu has never resembled anything close to a real husband or partner material.
Now switching fully into my commentary mode because this is one of those manhwas where if I don’t do this every chapter my thoughts stay completely scrambled lol
1. Rosa & Suryeon’s phone call
From their conversation it’s clear they used to be genuinely close even though Suryeon was often absent due to work... Despite that absence she seems to have kept Rosa on a "tight leash" . The fact that she immediately sensed something was amiss when Rosa asked for permission and connected it to Rosa wanting to stay out because of Yeonwu says a lot.
But I don’t think Suryeon knows what actually happened on campus or goes on between the two but she definitely knows Rosa is shaken because Yeonwu showed up there. Also I really can't understand her take on having a "perfect family" to me it seems like an obsession she has and as if she wants to play house with her dolls.
2.The mother–daughter relationship is…getting weirder. Suryeon casually mentioning she’s good at “fixing problem children” using plural and that she’s done it before is incredibly alarming to me. Making me think that could include Rosa, but then we also see Suryeon being strangely overprotective of her: clearing out the company when she became CEO so Rosa could manage it smoothly later on for example like Jaeon said.
At the same time, Rosa seems unusually devoted to her mother as well. Eating salad for a shoot Suryeon prepared, prioritizing her approval in everything and even earlier in the story, she wanted Yeonwu gone so she wouldn’t lose or have to share her mother's attention/affection!
3. Suryeon & Yeonwu’s “relationship”
I think it’s now fully confirmed what their dynamic really is to everyone. To Suryeon Yeonwu is nothing more than a toy someone to play house with, control and treat like a literal dog. The way she viewed the party as “letting him out for a walk” was disgusting. Letting him hook up with other women was fine in her eyes, just obviously never her daughter. Way to have your plans bite you in the butt without even knowing lol
I doubt she has any genuine interest in his trauma or even real knowledge of it. Yeonwu, on the other hand, seems to have placed his faith in her because he desperately wants a family and also obv feels indebted to her for getting him out of the host bar by paying his debt. But Suryeon is far too seasoned, manipulative and cold for that.
I really hope readers see it clearly now.
Deep down, I think even Yeonwu knows there was never love there. Watching her drug him as punishment, paired with those flashbacks from his host bar days, makes it painfully obvious this behavior isn’t new. At this point, Yeonwu is probably drowning in self-blame in a situation where he’s been the victim.
4. Yeonwu’s “toxic side”
As for the toxic side the author mentioned I don’t think we’ve seen it yet. I don’t think it was present much in the first chapters either. It feels like something that’s slowly developing recently and we get to see glimpses of. And honestly? I think falling for Rosa is what’s going to push him over the edge. The signs are already showing though.
At first, I assumed his childhood memories involving Rosa would be purely painful, especially since kid Rosa came off a bit unhinged herself. But seeing him envision her as a child while semi-conscious in that state combined with his past comments calling her cute or a princess, made me rethink that. Maybe she was part of the few genuinely good memories he still cherishes as well.
One last thing Yeonwu’s marks in this chapter looked way more like cigarette burns than hickeys to me?? Which makes me very curious about what actually went down the night before... Meanwhile, Rosa already seems to have misunderstood everything, assuming Yeonwu and her mom had a wild night together when she stayed out...
Honestly… I can already smell Yeonwu’s suffering coming. But I really hope Rosa goes easy on him once he wakes up and that we finally see more of his breakdown from last night. Please. No more misunderstandings. I’m begging. Let's clear the air a bit...

Finallyy we’re getting more glimpses of Rosa and Yeonwu’s childhood meeting and more insight into Yeonwu’s past and his possible intentions!!
1. We finally got the confirmation that Yeonwu was indeed coerced into entering the industry by the boss lady and worked as a host to just pay off his debt. The fact he has been suffering ever since he was a baby all the way to adulthood was so sad...And also we got confirmation about the ROSE tattoo!! It was indeed in thought of Rosa and I bet even the scar underneath it might have something to do with her!! And that alone proves that he also still remembers her!! Which leads to me thinking that he’s just lying and putting up a front right now.
And honestly? His feelings seem to flactuate a lot around Rosa they seem twisted, tangled and not simple at all.
And his mask is also wearing thin now and the cracks become all the more profound the deeper we delve into this!! I want to see more literally begging for his pov!!
2. From the flashback it's pretty obvious Rosa was drawn to Yeonwu the moment she saw him at the orphanage when visiting with her mom. And the fact that seeing him cry with that "pretty face" made her feel something even back then is wild??? She literally said “You had such a pretty smile, I wanted to see what you looked like when you cried. That’s why I kicked it.”
Like… hello??? Her sadistic streak was already there as a kid!! It also says a lot about how abnormal her upbringing was...a rich kid growing up mostly alone with a CEO mom who was probably not around enough. But honestly some of her actions seem to resemble her mother.
3. Which brings me to this third point: did y’all SEE Yeonwu’s expression in the rain, paired with the panel of both Rosa and her mother coming to mind??? That felt to me that Rosa is definitely present in his mind and plans!! I bet this might have also been him comparing Suryeon and Rosa!!
4. And lastly I cannot wait for Yeonwu to find out about Rosa and Jeon’s FWB relationship!
That curious stare-down between them during their first meet makes me crave for so much more. ><
I do feel a little bad for Jeon though… poor guy is clearly going to be used as a catalyst for Rosa and Yeonwu’s relationship. But honestly? I want jealous Yeonwu and even Jeon way too much. So let's see what the author cooks next~
Finally it's confirmed that Rosa remembers their past meeting at the orphanage and based on the earlier flashback, she was there with her mother who was a sponsor and honestly it feels like they may have interacted more than once if she visited lots. Meanwhile Yeonwu doesn’t seem to remember her at all or maybe he is pretending to have forgotten about it? And now he’s involved with her mother which makes the whole thing even more messed up and complicated. Btw that woman it's so disgusting she knew him as a kid from the orphanage she sponsored, later met him again at the host club, had him do all that stuff (as we saw in the flashbacks) and even brought him home to play house knowing Yeonwu was craving for a family. And yet his existence is so shallow to her that she didn’t even bother warning him about the party and basically forgot his whole ass existence...Truly using like a boytoy.
As for Rosa we know she hates sharing what belongs to her and since she knew Yeonwu first, it’s pretty obvious what she hates most about him it's the fact that he isn’t hers. What confuses me though it's the fact that her and her mother were very close prior to all this according to Rosa's words so why would her mother do this?
And that exchange between Jaeon and Yeonwu though!! The stare downs were everything. >< I seriously can’t wait to see more of both of them around Rosa, especially once Yeonwu starts showing more of himself and his feelings for Rosa.
And pls let’s not forget the author’s words: Rosa × Yeonwu will be a slow burn and there is no innocent central character in this story, they all have a toxic side. Which means there’s definitely more to Yeonwu than what meets the eye as well and I absolutely cannot wait for his POV! Even though that does not mean he hasn't suffered...And author said he will suffer more in the future...

So much happened that left me completely stunned in this chapter...
I genuinely didn’t expect Yeonwu to be so affected by the drug that he’d literally pull it out like that! I got a jump scare just like Rosa did lmao
Another thing that really stood out to me is how insignificant Yeonwu clearly is to the mother. Today’s chapter basically confirmed that she doesn’t care for him deeply at all, she seems to view him as nothing more than her personal boytoy. She literally forgot about his whole ass existence, let him attend a drug-filled party with zero warning…but then why bring him into her home, disrupt her child’s peace and even propose marriage? None of it adds up unless there is more to her plans??
And Yeonwu’s past at the host club? It definitely wasn’t smooth sailing. The mother also seems tightly connected to the club based on that flashback so maybe she even owns part of it or is considered one of the estimate SVIP clients...Considering Yeonwu came from the orphanage she sponsors...I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a whole system where young orphan adults who are unemployed or people like Yeonwu who have debt get funneled into the host club for “easy money”.
Also Yeonwu clearly carries trauma from that time in his life! We saw it even in the previous chapter with the gardener his flinching, his grimacing plus here with the words he was saying to Rosa…And despite Yeonwu viewing the mother as his “saviour” who eventually got him out, she still feels like an abuser of power to me. Nothing about her treatment of him reads as love. And I doubt he truly loves her either it feels more like a mix of gratitude and his longing for familial affection that he’s mistaken for romantic attachment.
I also loved the author’s symbolism with both Yeonwu’s and the mother’s necklaces breaking at the same time right before he starts making out with Rosa.
Honestly, the further the story goes, the more sorry I feel for Yeonwu and even more for Rosa. As for the mother she becomes more vile with each chapter. The things she’s done to both Rosa and Yeonwu so far in these chapters make my blood boil.
The summary already has caught my attention and with BWAT as the manhwa artist there is no question about the art!! I just know this will be a deliciously delightful read^^
We got arranged marriage between 2 kingdoms, royal succession drama and a love story laced with angst!! And it's a BL!! ><
The story is still so badly written...Although I did keep reading cause I liked the art and initial premise of the story I can't help but to admit that this manhwa was written so stupidly full of plot holes and nonsensical storytelling at times that made me feel as if it was a story written by a middle schooler...Like there is repetitive plot points especially miscommunication, superficial dialogues, underdeveloped characters, villains used just as plot devices, a ML who even though is a king cannot make any decent decision when most needed and is more used to having emotional outbursts and making rush careless decisions instead of using his brain aside from being horny af most of the times he is spotted around FL...At least FL has the whole traumatic past that makes her so timid and we see her working on it (even though it did get a bit too frustrating at times still ugh) But yeah adorable fam and nice drawing that's it lol Nothing more nothing less here...
If you want smth to pass the time with lil brain action and nice drawing pics you can give it a read!
Okay today’s chapter has to be one of the best so far and that ending was such a cliffhanger!!
We got so much information dropped on us and a flashback from their childhood era on top of it~
Here are my personal highlights:
1. Rosa and the gardener fiasco! The way she pretended to let the gardener off the hook so that she could slap Yeonwu but in reality she has already destroyed her mom’s favorite bonsai, which is literally the same age as Rosa(hope y'all remember lol )Meaning: that gardener is as good as fired and Rosa made it happen in the most savage yet elegant way. The look on the gardener's face said EVERYTHING. Ofc it could also be a symbolism from the author's side using this to show that Rosa's love for her mother is wielding while the one for Yeonwu takes root...
2.Rosa’s sadistic side peeking through again when she slaps Yeonwu, basically confirming her obsession and possessiveness over him. And Yeonwu just taking it like the good masochistic pup he is lol
3. Yeonwu’s “You know that’s a lie” line as a response to Rosa saying she hates him and doesn’t want to help him had me screaming!! We need that Yeonwu pov NOW. Every time I start feeling sorry for him, something like this happens in a chapter and I’m instantly unsettled again lmao Like I really wanna know what's going on in his head...
4. The symbolic flashback to when Rosa visited the orphanage that her mother sponsored and met Yeonwu! Even back then, by the looks of it Rosa clearly went straight into torment mode with him lol And I am also curious to see how much the mother knows...And even more disgusted by her if she knew who he was after meeting him at the host club.
