ik theres gonna be a looooot of conflict mayb before this ever happens but I'M STILL HOPING

ngl suah saying all those promises “across the years” was when they were like 7 years old. they were children and it was a promise they made before they knew about how the world worked, i can’t really fault suah for not keeping a promise he made when he was so young. i get what you’re saying tho, they’re really cute, i honestly think a part of it is on juhyeok to move on from their childhood promises. they’re adults now, he can’t really hold him to the promises he made as a child

Juhyeok was not just a terrible but completely garbage friend after presenting, I won’t defend any of that. But honestly I don’t think Juhyeok treasured Suah solely just because he thought Suah would present as an omega? But that’s not the main thing I wanted to comment on so I won’t dive too much into this.

I feel like what Suah failed to do was give Juhyeok space to be honest. Juhyeok could not comprehend neither accept his secondary gender and that’s when it all spiralled down to a shit show. From there on Juhyeok really just wanted to get the fk away from Suah whereas Suah’s desperation drove him to do crazy things. Of course Suah’s actions also stem from his desire to protect Juhyeok and his love for Juhyeok but it went out of control.

But of course there’s also the scenario that if Suah were to give Juhyeok space nothing would’ve changed because Juhyeok has his ego and insecurities in the way.. I feel like I’ve been replying to a lot of the comments bashing Juhyeok so much I fail to convey my main point which is that both sides are sad and painful to watch. Yes Juhyeok was rubbish to Suah when they were young but after growing up Suah used the wrong methods to project Juhyeok.

Also, both sides have their own traumas/insecurities and whatever else you wanna name. If Juhyeok’s response to the “omega” title is to shut Suah out then what can we say? Suah served as constant reminder that Juhyeok is an “omega”, something he absolutely didn’t want, never imagined to be. Gentle reminder that Juhyeok was also a baby at this time.

i think u have the names confused, suah = alpha and juhyeok = omega!! i get u but they also weren't 7, more like until they were preteens/early teens?? ofc we don't know for sure but i would say from the earliest flashback when juhyeok saved suah from the bullies and carried him home they were around 7-9, and during the window/ice cream scene where suah tries to crouch and shrink himself anywhere from 11-13. anyway, even if they weren't adults yet, that's still 4+ years of suah's life, integral years, where he saw juhyeok as his only light in the world as a vulnerable and scared baby who was literally bullied until he pissed himself. ofc he was going to latch on like his life depended on it.

you're completely right though, a part of it is on suah to move on - and he was doing pretty well at it i.e. he left juhyeok alone for weeks. it's just hard to move on when he's suddenly being used for sex now.....idk man it's all mess but rest assured i DO feel bad for juhyeok, i just think he handled it terribly and i feel infinitely more bad for suah bc he was shut out and abandoned over a factor that he had no control over. ofc the way he reacted in response to being shut out wasn't right, but just seeing how self aware suah was from the start that juhyeok wanted him to be an omega and was devastated when he presented as an alpha and began to grow taller, not bc he himself had a problem w it but bc he knew juhyeok would not be happy - just devastating to me.

like i understand where suah is coming from since he basically grew up with juhyeok and he was his protector, but i do still think he’s looking at it from his childhood perspective. he covered juhyeok in pheromones without his permission, he still shows up every day even tho he told him to leave him alone, and even if all of this happened when they were 11-12, that was still 10 years ago. it must’ve been really tough for suah to have to deal with losing someone so close to him, but even still, holding juhyeok to promises he made when he was basically prebuscent (i’m assuming secondary genders come around during puberty) is just a little silly to me.

i think we agree on the same things, i just feel a little less bad for suah since he had the opportunity to leave several times and he still decided to stay.

no i get it! you're right 10 years ish later u would hope suah would have moved on/healed, but i also get the trauma bonding aspect and confusion/difficulty doing so when the reason you were originally shut out, again, was bc of secondary gender prejudice and something completely out of your control. as far as we know, juhyeok also never sat down w suah and explained things rationally, he sort of just ghosted him and then threw flowers in his face when he crashed out after presenting. more than the childhood promise, i think a lot of it also stems from a lack of communication that isn't just "i don't like you anymore, stay away from me." u would think that even just as a friend, juhyeok would care enough to explain. but i also get that he has gender dysphoria and is going through persona trauma himself. i also don't know if juhyeok truly realizes how destructive and hurtful it is to keep suah around for sex (although as u said, partly suah's fault bc he's the one who started the scenting).

but yeah i def think we agree, i'm just more heartbroken for suah (and trying to do so without excusing his wrongdoings) but i hope they both get to heal!!! and personally don't want them to end up together bc of everything LOL but hey it's a bl so.....i imagine we will be having headaches in future chapters

Wow you're great at getting your point across. And you made me think further - yeah, the girls that read noncon works are unlikely to go and act it out, so why read it? Maybe because we would emphasize with the victim and having these kind of crimes shown here makes it acknowledged while elsewhere it's ignored because it's uncomfortable? There's so much noncon happening daily in real life, and we are always told we are in danger of it happening to us, so having it be part of a story makes it real and present in ways other genres hide it away and pretend it doesn't happen

You're right babe, I remember back when I was reading My Suha and the comment section felt like a damn war zone for a whole month, and I was fucking exhausted. I was only 20 at the time (yeah, young people indeed), but I was still tired. That’s when I realized I couldn’t control other people, so after reading the manhwa, I just logged out and stopped checking the comments. We can’t control other people, but we can control how we behave.

This story has such an interesting plotline, and I still want to keep up with it sooo bad even though there’s rape in it. Most people’s reactions are valid, I think it shows they’re still “healthy.” WE CAN KEEP READING WITHOUT JUSTIFYING THE RAPE, right? People are literally talking about it nonstop because we never know how far a story can influence someone into thinking rape is “okay.” It’s lucky that most readers here still understand it’s wrong and wouldn’t ever do it, but what if the story reaches the wrong kind of person?

Yeah, I know it’s not my responsibility and I probably shouldn’t care this much. The issue lies with the person themselves. But at the very least, comments like these can act as a warning for people who might consider doing something like "that" in the future or even stop someone from doing it. We never know.

not to get psychological on u when i just crashed out abt wanting to lock in and gush over incheol's titty mole, but if i had to guess, most ppl here are taking a break from studying for exams, or getting a goodnight story in before work. they enjoy the literature, the art, the story. and dark themes aside, incheol's titty mole getting love bitten by pyeonghwa could be the tiny silver thread keeping them holding on in a battle for their life! esp in this economy LOL so i just. i rlly wish ppl would do something relaxing for them, not shame others, not uselessly fight over morals and ethics like. we could have such a fun book club out here!!! discussing things!!! and doing it while not calling each other dumb btches or sick criminals every 2 seconds!!! and u made a great point about dark topics being of free and open discussion in spaces like these, while irl it feels too taboo at times to ever bring up seriously!

please take care of your health first and foremost! i realize it can be daunting when it feels like dark themes in literature are being normalized or downplayed - or most dishearteningly, fetishized. but i also think it's important to not catastrophize the situation and think rationally about, again - who the audience for works like these are, and who the overwhelming majority of sa/rapists are and if anything, works like these where the noncon isn't glorified as some sparkly magical prostate thing where incheol magically starts enjoying it can help young fans contextualize the true weight of sa and what it does to ppl. as for the adult women gooning out to incheol's suffering.....trust they know the weight already, and are likely just destressing by themselves preparing to go to work the next day again, finding noncon hot in fictional settings isn't for everyone. some can think its detestable, and you're allowed to! but as for real world repercussions and lecturing ppl on morals and ethics, pls just remember that gooner girl in the comments indulging in dark bl will likely not touch a 3D man with a ten-foot pole, let alone trap them in some psychological noncon torture chamber bc of a bl they read. of course not everyone here is a girl, shoutout to the enby folks and occasional guy. but really, that "wrong kind of person" is more likely than not, a lonely straight man who is watching revenge porn and hates women again, there are nuances. but if we're talking about the vast majority of cases, i wouldn't die on the dark bl manhwa hill.

I get it but tbh I also think if that's what someone is upset about they're gonna complain yk? And if it happens a lot of people are upset about it, as is pretty much always gonna be the case with a rape plot, justifiably so, then you're gonna get a lot of complaints. It's difficult to ask people not to complain and be upset abt such a serious thing, and the story will continue regardless and people will move on to other things, it's just how it works. Ig i just don't see debating about the morals of rape use in manga as horrible? I mean again yes it can be tiring but when i say duh i mean less that's just the way it is and more that's the way it should be when we're confronted with nuanced topics like this. And if it's about expectations, i'm sure the mangaka knew it would evoke this kind of discourse and it's part of why they include it - ofc i get you're saying it's fine as part of the plot, but i see the overall discussion of rape and that kind of play as a whole in real life as an inherent part of what the manga is trying to evoke in us as readers emotionally to think about and discuss. And if people are gonna come out and say they think it's hot, as i said people are gonna wanna argue about it, i think rightfully so anyway. But maybe i just haven't read enough of the comments to see people being called disgusting criminals and stuff idk i think it's difficult to draw a line over where the discourse becomes too hateful in such a topic like this when there's so much at play esp of real life experiences. It's basically impossible to separate real life from fiction and plot in these instances, and i think that's intentional on the mangaka's part anyway considering the overall darker themes
