This story was a rollercoaster, and I don’t mean an emotional one. Just the plot itself was wild.
SPOILER!!!
The story was mostly great. Clearly, the author is good at storytelling, planting seeds of foreshadowing to neatly tie them up at the end. But especially towards the end it got a bit ridiculous; the way she was dragging out the sister’s death for 20 chapters felt like plot filler, the whole time travel thing, etc. Toward the end I couldn’t take it seriously anymore and then the author flashbanged us with that panel of “God” and I nearly fell off my bed from laughing.
Unfortunately, the author isn’t nearly as good at writing romance as they are at plotting. The romance was bland, and like others commented, the ML existed only for the purpose of simping and supporting the FL without any semblance of individuality. Honestly, there’s more tension in Lohan and (reincarnated) Lady Iris’ relationship and I’d be more interested reading about them than the main couple. The same goes for the Mielle and Lady Iris, who were dumb-ified at some point so the FL could defeat them.
Can someone who read the novel please spoil me if she end up taking revenge or at least some sort of satisfying retribution to balance out the power dynamic against her mother and the crown price (Geralt or whatever his name is)?
If her story ends with marriage to the ML while the crown prince and the empress go on with their merry lives I‘m don’t wanna waste my time.
Damn, that’s worse than I thought lol
At least tell me that the ML grows a backbone at some point because rn he seems a bit like a coward who can’t get his act together. I did read in the comments that he’s under some sort of magical oath, but why does he have zero emotions or empathy? Is he like that even after her death?!
Best BL webtoon I’ve read in a long time. Unfortunately there is so many questions that are left unanswered, even important ones that where built up by the author but not resolved at the end.
Like, the whole story surrounding Beomjin? Maybe I skipped a chapter or something but I clearly remember Yoomin and other characters making this big fuss about Beomjins powers yet we never learn their origin and connection to the mythological lore. And is it just a coincidence that he looks so similar to the eath god (who has the character design that was originally intended for Beomjin)?
Personally I’d also love to know what happens when the Lord of the Underworld does wake, what will happens to Yoomin atp?
I realized I‘m too leftist socialist to be reading this shit. Especially when they purged the slums because the nobility was afraid of the poor people rebelling because due to their awful living conditions. Even if the rebels were presented as the villains, their cause was valid.
The FL has one dormant braincell and is a hypocrite. She wants to be with her mother and stands for her origins from the slums, yet she still stays in the system which created that hellhole in the first place and marries the ML who’s partially responsible.
Not to mention that the ML is extremely manipulative and kept the mother’s letter from her because he was scared she would be “happier with her mother”. And this is after he already promised her not to hide anything from her because this had happened before. Seriously, what a loser. Anyways, fuck oligarchy. Eat the rich.
I dropped it around Ch 40 because I couldn’t force myself to continue reading. Like, can someone explain what they liked about this, because how come the rating is this high???
It’s clear that some wattpad girlie came up with this plot that should’ve just stayed in the drafts. The ML is manipulative and possessive in his past life as well as this one. There seems to be no change other than that he’s suddenly kind to the FL now (and I still don’t know why by Ch 40). Other than that, he’s still an asshole, like when he said he’d “have her no matter what”, even if she hates it, or when he casually sexually harasses her.
While I get that some people are into this shit, what irks me personally is that there’s never any retribution from the FL, who herself is a huge hypocrite. She gave such a grand, promising speech at the beginning, that she knows what its like to be loved unconditionally by her family now and therefore realized how pathetic the ML was, that she doesn’t need to go along with his whims anymore, only to do EXACTLY that. Instead of saying all the things she thinks about him to his face to give him a taste of reality, she just ends up going along with whatever he does.
For instance, when he thinks he has a right to touch her whenever he feels like it, after she clearly told him she doesn’t want it. Or when he (unprovoked, mind you) attacked Morgan (I think that was his name) in his jealousy fit and then blamed Morgan for attacking him first, when it was the other way around. And instead of telling the truth and standing up against the ML, she just goes “oopsie, guess he wiggled his way out of this one”, when the dude who tried his best to save her from the ML (who had just kidnapped her) is lying wounded on the ground. Like, how ungrateful and brainwashed can you be?
The overarching plot and side characters are just as flat and boring. Sadly and surprisingly, the only one who has some potential is the Antagonist aka the fake Saintess. I saw another comment saying that they didn’t like how lenient the ending was with the Saintess because she was manipulative and selfish, which made me realize what a crazy double standard some readers have for female characters. Because if you think about it from an objective stance, there’s not much of a difference between the fake Saintess’ and the ML’s behavior, except that he’s a handsome man, so he can get away with his behavior without ever facing true backlash.

She’s the Y/N final boss. Her boobs got bigger and her waist smaller with each chapter. While I don’t mind big chested girlies, I do notice that Korean artists (even women artists) tend to draw women for the male gaze, and it’s really sad. Either they’re pencil thin or they are pencil thin but with big boobs, which makes them look really disproportionate to the rest of their body. There’s like no in between and it’s slowly but surely getting on my nerves.
