Edited: I’m so fucking upset rn. Like why did they have to make it into one of these types of stories?? I thought they were gonna change it from the “book” which had rape, but no its still got rape. FML. I love russian characters as well and I had SO much hope for this. So fucking upsetting. Idk I want to continue reading but I also feel so sick about this all. Fuck man. I really loved this one why did it have to turn for the worse??!!!

Edit 2: finished it regardless, sigh sigh. I hate this, because I love the story, the art, the characters. Yes, even Caesar. The rape scene did a massive disservice to his character, I mean as it would to any character- but it was just so unnecessary! I imagined Leewon would have hated him from then on, but nooo, falling in love with your rapist is the new best romance trope! I feel that despite Caesars lack of experience in love, he wouldn’t have raped him. Maybe the kidnapping, sure. Give a bit of edge with shooting your crush to keep him around, I know that’s OBVIOUSLY bad, but it keeps the story interesting and shows his obsession. However, the rape just felt like an attempt at giving us “what we finally wanted!” Aka “sex” but of course we can’t consider it sex when its rape. Also- we wanted a consensual and meaningful build up to that. It can still be rough, cruel, and sadistic, thats the sorta shit I am into! But the number one rule! CONSENT.
I mean, I am no professional in writing, but I have read and written since as long as I can remember. The one nerd who carried 12th grade novels around in year 5. By year 9, full on adult novels I was discreet about (blank cover novels).
Alas, there’s so many alternative ways the “obsessive kidnapping” could have gone. Forced kissing is still pretty bad, but it’s much more forgiving than full on rape. There could be pressure to let him do it but no force, or you know what?! Internal conflict! Imagine Caesar had urges as he does, and in his mind, one where he always gets what he wants, he pulls back against himself! He refuses to sexually assault the man he loves, because he loves him! And that’s not usual to Caesar in the sense that he acts always as the one in control. However you may ask, “didn’t you say Caesar wouldn’t realistically have raped him?” Yes, and I still stand by that. You can express his painfully strong desire to sexually take Leewon before he is given the Go Card, without him committing sexual assault. You could even just show him leaning over Leewon in bed, sitting beside him, remarking “You’re mine”, as a demand of his possession over Leewon, but it’s more representative of his obsession rather than true feelings. What he really desires is for Leewon to love him back, therefore for Leewon to be his; but also for himself to be Leewon’s.
Realistically, Leewon would not have forgiven him either. Rather than treat it like a little mistake, he would treat it as it is; Rape.

Edgy, but I feel that is so much more realistic to how he would have reacted. This is all just rape romanticization, and it’s fucking dangerous. You can blabber on about how it’s just fiction, but I myself when I was a child, uneducated about sexual maturity, and manipulated by older people who presented me to anime with underage sexualization, lured me into being “sexual” as a child around them, legal adults. I learned later on, about 15 years old, the truth of the matter, but I had lived much of my younger years consuming media far too mature for my age, and have been robbed much of an innocent upbringing which perhaps is the fault for my more morbid and mentally depressed state in my adult years. Fiction affects reality. It always has. You (those who rape scenes) simply use the fact that its “fiction” and nothing physical to justify your disgusting love for rapist content. Especially if unlike me, a homosexual man, you are a straight woman fetishizing gay men and rape together, you are sick and abhorrent as a human being.

A bit of a ramble, but I digress.

This story has been a huge stress on me. Conflicted opinions and such. I loved every piece of it, all except for that scene. But that one scene ruined all of it. It’s so fucking frustrating going in this cycle with fictional works for gay men. Well, I suppose I can’t complain there because these aren’t even truly meant for me or other gay men. Its meant for fujoshis. Unfortunately it is only in this realm that I find stories I enjoy. Mafia, dark fantasy, heavy topics, etc. other gay men enjoy much more shallow work, not to slight my people, but there isn’t as strong as a demand for dark angsty content like such for the majority of us. Still, I feel those who aren’t perhaps gay men, but don’t identify as “Fujo’s” and respectfully enjoy sexual and romantic content of gay men (simply by not supporting problematic and immoral tropes presented onto gay men, such as underage / illegal age gap, rape, and bestiality) they too are sick of this shit, and I stand with them on that.

This story could have been a fucking masterpiece in my book, but it only brings me disappointment and regret. It’s truly a fucking shame.

Edit: Read it through (some things skimmed over, can you blame me?) out of curiosity of how fucking stupid it would be, and wow. It succeeded my expectations. The FEMALE author finds it appealing to fetishize rape and do so AT THE EXPENSE of a gay relationship and of MEN. Imagine this but the Minho dude was a chick. To me, its fucking abhorrent no matter the gender roles. It’s a huge fucking waste of the artists skill and it makes me so mad that I almost wish the author had to live the horrors they write about their fucking characters. This isn’t a “horror thriller” either where its meant to make you feel sick, its for sexual gratification. This rape fantasy is supposed to be AROUSING. It makes me feel so fucking violent, being I have had horribly personal experience with these themes. Not myself, but someone I loved dearly who ended up taking their fucking life over what they went through. Obviously I don’t have any proof I’m willing to give because I like anonymity, but it doesn’t matter because we know people who actually face shit like this have faced a hell we and most others can NEVER comprehend. But here we are, writing about it and this author rubbing herself off to a man being raped and brutalized. Imagine it the other way around. That happens plenty too granted. Its fucking sad.
And to all that hope for the story to get better, it won’t as the author has supposedly stated. “There is no future for Minho”.
This story and all effort put into it is a waste of time. But a perfect example of how disgusting and inhumane a person can be for their edgy moronic fantasies at the expense of others suffering.
