(NOT SURE IF I REMEMBER THIS RIGHT, BUT YEAH, JUST SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENED.) And Matthias really meant it, like Leyla could go home in peace. He won't bother her knowing that she went through a lot.
However, Leyla still chooses to go the annex because she thought that going to her home would only bring Matthias to where Uncle Bill is. So, she waited inside the annex, but she didn't lit up any fire. It was cold. It was dark. She just sat there in silence, patiently waiting for him to come around.
When Matthias came home, seeing her in that state, his heart clenched for reasons he couldn't explain himself. All he knew that his lover, who was supposed to be receiving all the favors from a duke like him, was here in the cold, all alone—hiding herself because she was merely a mistress.
