I became a K-pop fan around 2017 but disengaged once it became mainstream and, in my view, lost some of its original appeal. Ever since the global explosion of Korean media like K-pop and K-dramas, I’ve noticed that some people act as if Korea is the pinnacle of culture or even human existence.

For example, when you see videos of people from a completely different ethnicity, there are always comments saying things like “if you look closely, this person looks like Heesung (for example),” or comparing them to a specific idol, even when the resemblance is barely there. I understand that people naturally compare others when there are similarities, but K-pop fans like these often seem to stretch it in every context to fit a "kpop appeal"

What exactly drives this tendency among some fans to treat K-pop as a universal framework for interpreting appearance and identity?

I can tell if a person who posted a manhwa edit a man or a girl. Like, I saw an edit of the best 'manhwa girls' and it's all from the male mc action stories. And the guys in the com sec be hyping it up saying who's better than whom. When I read it, those girls don't feel like real girls, they are just girls from men's fantasies. It's like they only exist as the protagonist's female accessory, they just don't have that much depth. Ya know those so-called best girls and they're just boobs and ass and a pretty face? But if an edit shows girls with complex characters with most of them from female mc stories, then matik it's from a woman. And then you see the com sec with all other people arguing who's better than whom by discussing more about their complexities instead of appearance.

I was talking to someone I just met and I hit with the realization that I have nothing. no hobby, no interest, nothing to talk about.
I can't really talk about yaoi I might as well say my favorite past time is watching porn.

I used to be a movie watcher, an actual book reader, and somewhat of a drawer. but I've been depressed these past years that I lost interest. I don't keep up with movies and even animation shows or anime, I lost interest on it too. I only read yaoi now, I tried to pick up a pencil and I feel sick cuz I forgot how to draw. i feel terrible.

and I know I still like these things. I've watch mickey 17 with my family and I loved it, I watch it till the end. but when I tried watching something on my own I'd lost motivation in the middle and stop it indefinitely. I like arts, I still find some joy in fanart and doodles. but I just couldn't start.
