I would recommend Ghost in the Shell, Memories or anything by Satoshi Kon, about half of Miyazaki's oeuvre, and perhaps the first run of Hellsing, but seeing as you did not enjoy Cowboy Bebop or Berserk (assuming first run, not remake), then perhaps anything on Netflix. Normaly I would say that anything on there is most likely terrible, but some mi......   1 reply

Is it just me but I feel emotional every time I write in my journal like it's the only safe space that I have, I can cry while writing on it, I can just pour out all my sadness and anger into it to the point that I dont find it cringey no more

Korean are better art, more modern , closer to reality, feel more natural . Japanese are often either too naive or too perverted and twisted. There are a lot of masterpiece at the same time, but in general I would prefer Korean. Chinese are too naive, far from reality and I don't like the art most of the time , and also censoring is unreasonable   5 reply

I'm anxious it's about to be gone It's the only site (for novels) I know that doesn't have paywall and ads at all. And the people there were genuinely so nice I only saw some fighting in the comment second TWICE after like 3+ years I'm there. They say they're short on money or something like that to keep the website going (which is understandable......   4 reply

Celebrity worship is deeply ingrained in much of Asian entertainment culture, and as it's said patriarchy is frequently upheld by mostly women. That's one reason powerful men especially celebrities can get away with so much. It often doesn't seem to matter whether they're a rapist or a pedophile.   2 reply

Haikyuu - I don't like sport anime nor sports. Never in a million years did I imagine that an anime about high school volleyball could make me jump out of my seat, cry, scream, and laugh. I became like one of those European football fanatics, cheering for my boys and living the highs and lows of high school volleyball. Highly recommend! Mob Psyc......   reply

Japanese by far, though by no means is it all or even mostly good. Korean BL is very formulaic and clichéd, soap opera, either sugar fluff or edgy, rapey stuff. And that "always fighting" mindset, living on credit, wearing brands, vying for position, and measuring everything with money and titles. Then there are the cults, gangsters, corrupt digni......   2 reply

English is not my first language so you lost me at the end. But I got the first part and the good news - you will never have the regret of what would have happened if you didn't confess. It may feel scary now, but as time goes on, people will forget.   reply

It depends, A lot of bl manga (Japanese) is peak but there are so many unoriginal plots that after reading bl manga they kinda all merge together, Bl Manhwa (Korean) is what I would say is the best in general lots of peak and unique bl stories that even though I’ve been reading manhwa for several years, I still find new ones with original plots......   reply

Internalised misogyny plus living in a patriarchal society will do that to you, women are always expected to give grace to shitty men and some genuinely believe they will learn from their mistakes and grow as people when it's obvious from a mile away they won't. In my opinion though I do think it's more prevalent with female fans of Asian media (ex......   4 reply
