If a serious subject is treated as a joke or a romanticization of the topic, then thats a no for me. If its to inform, educate and actually make me learn something, then Ill read it. Its important to me that authors show the reality of certain dark subjects.   reply

Every time I read smut I get farther from the "moral line" that I hold for real life... not a very healthy situation, but I'm an addict.   reply

i read basically anything as long as the plot is interesting and storytelling is good. i absolutely hate over exposition and thats all. that being said, i dont really tell people i know irl about the things i read either so its just me and myself. you'll know when something feels wrong or gets too weird, which is why i think it's important for kids......   reply

It depends on how the book handles dark topics. Though I'll always draw the line when it sexualizes children or teens (and incest). If it shows pedophilia/grooming in a way where it's acceptable or the character isn't condemned for it I'm out. Other than that if the these dark topics are written well enough for me I'll get through it   reply

Anything with kids? I’m out. Actual incest? No thanks. He’s wearing glasses or has a goatee? Goodbye, that’s too much.   1 reply

I'll read just about anything if I'm curious about it, which includes morbid curiosity. I'm mostly talking about written works as opposed to visual media, although I can handle a fair bit of explicitness (though style and presentation would matter). a good art style or skill will draw my interest, and down uncomfortable rabbit holes. that said, I d......   reply
