I mostly do neither, just rush the thoughts through my head and then block them out by watching videos until I forget abt it
BUT recently ive been writing it down, it does feel like a chore but I do feel like I can articulate my feelings better afterwards reply
I feel the feelings first, I let them wash over me, no matter how much it hurts. No matter how angry, happy, sad, exhausted, irritated they make me feel. I give my body and mind permission to feel all the feelings without judgment and rationalization. I take it all in. It depends, if it's something that hurt me I just rant about it to myself, I'm too scared people will react in an underwhelming way if I tell them my problems reply
