Popular yaoi nowadays is smutty or toxic af (which has always existed in a lot of them tbh but its gotten more popular) sure there's some gems but I feel like there's more hidden gems but they're not popular bc it's not slop or the art isn't beautiful or smth I remember reading a peak shounen ai a while ago n ppl were calling it boring n I have a feeling it was bc it had no smut but I could be wrong

would it put you off if a story keep it honorific from it's original language. idk why translator keep taking them off and replacing it with just a name... it loses parts of the tone and character for most characters.

and similarly, would it put you off that couples would use honorific for siblings for their s/o? that's the only reason why I think some of these translator take the honorific off tbh. like hyung and oppa is originally for family members. but you can also use this for ppl outside of your family. this is not a weird concept but I've seen certain people take the "family" part too seriously and can't seem to wrap their head around that concept.
like you can't ship character who call each other's "brothers" even tho they're in no way related to each other. example of this is a zenless ship, Billy (a robot) x Lighter (human), who met at an underground fighting ring. they're not related, so not incest, and they don't grow up together, ruling out pseudoincest.

So, I have a best friend. We’ve been super close for 20 years, basically grew up together. But ever since she got a boyfriend a couple of months ago, things have been completely different between us. We used to send long, enthusiastic texts and talk about literally everything—and she was always the one to text first. Now? On top of that, my mom recently told me that my friend is thinking about marrying him.
She literally just turned 20. I know it’s her life and her choice, but I’m genuinely worried. He doesn't have a job, barely puts any effort into taking her out, and she’s not working either—she still relies on her parents. I really want to talk to her about this, but I’m terrified it’ll ruin our friendship, especially since she’s my only friend. Am I overstepping here?
