Most BL has pure offensive shit masquerading as love. Like irrational possessiveness treated as cute Bonafide lover behaviour as if it doesn't scream patriarchal mentality of ownership. Is it just me or are some things are just too normalized in BL? Like for example, being locked up. Like that common trope where the bottom is about to leave the top for whatever reason and they get locked up by the Top… like I feel like this is just completely unacceptable because it’s simply psychotic behaviour. Like just imagine you want to leave a relationship and then your partner says NO and then locks you up in their basement and then later you forgive them….

maybe the "I'm your slave" line isn't so bad in context, but even the choice of setting, time period, and backgrounds + the synopsis is grounds for scrutiny and wariness for people who are more directly affected by that history, or just aware of the kinds of narratives surrounding this point in history.
