comments under a bl story with rape
I think it's pretty obvious that a lot of bl stories have rape in them , its not something I support or want to normalise but its still objectively a common trope That aside why do comments hating on rape under a bl story get so much backlash? Like people really be defending anything and everything these days with a 'don't like don't read' comment? Any minor hate on a popular story against toxic themes , gets the 'no one is forcing you to read this' like please where is the logic , it still pisses me off to this day that ts happens
Literally though, every time I find a book with rape or sexual assault you can't even talk about ts in a critical manner without someone commenting, "don't like don't read" like what? I can't even give thoughts on an ILLEGAL WEBSITE where the author probably won't ever see the comment. Like, y'all are so attach to these books bruh please gtfo but ...... 1 reply
It is quite frustrating. I'm glad you've made a post on it. I was just commenting how these rape stories fuels the real life theory people have on gay relationships that you must be forced into being queer. I hate that theory and it makes me cringe seeing stories where rape is turned into "consent" later in the story because the MC has gotten adjus...... reply
Literally commented this under an up and coming rape story "you are my world" cos really no one is saying rape enjoyers can't read rape. Me commenting saying it's weird isn't policing what you read it's using a comment section to comment my opinion and soooo many of them get mad and defensive. Ive noticed it comes from a place of not wanting to be ...... 1 reply
Istg it's as if we're not supposed to call out a particularly problematic theme within the story which should be criticized especially if it's romanticized? The 'Don't like; don't read' comments genuinely pmo because they're as though implying that they like the romanticized rape that is happening in the story?? reply
Not really sure why you guys think this is an issue specific with BL readers though. Like I can find many comments talking about rape or toxicity or other gross themes downvoted to oblivion in straight romance and GL stories, too.
Not that I am defending these weird ass fujoshis or anything, I am just pointing out dumbasses who normalise such con...... 2 reply
If I'm gonna oppose a story for rape enjoyers in my comment I'm definitely gonna get flak for it. I'm gonna be downvotted to hell and it doesn't matter and idgaf if you're pissed. It really doesn't matter if it does. Opposition is necessary and healthy to ground people back to earth on what's actually normal. Mind you there's kids who read stuff li...... reply
It's genuinely frustrating sometimes when I read a story then see rape/SA, because I usually browse the comments first just to get little taste of what's to come. A lot of people really don't talk about it. When nobody talks about, I assume the story is clean to read. Which isn't the case sometimes. People who enjoy toxic stories always make a big ...... reply
it's amazing how people who say "don't like, don't read" never seem able to apply it to comments they don't like and conversations they never want to have. that line only applies for stuff like fanfics and some other fanworks where hate and other reactions are a direct engagement with the work in question (comments under a fic, replies/quotes to a ...... reply
Honestly I'm thankful to the ppl who comment when there's rape bc I hate stories like that but there's often no way to know if a manga/manhwa has rape unless you read and waste your time only to be hit in the face with rape, it's a horrible sensation tbh, so I always check comments before reading despite getting spoilers bc I really don't want to s...... 1 reply
