Are we sure it is done...? All the manhwas that i rated have beed added to my already read (even those that were in my reading category) and every single one that i havent rated wasnt added there. Ive had around 800 already read manhwas and only 63 were added... (ive recently marked 14 as already read myself)

this process is really confusing. the only things that returned for me were the few I left ratings on, and since i've had this account for quite a few years and have been logging for quite a few years I guess I expected things to come back at the time you said they would.

is this a random ass person? do they have no affiliation with the site? why am i reassured by a random ass person? i'm not sure why you're being rude about asking for more clarification. it's all really quite unclear like, if it's like reading a book- was my page in the book skipped over? and hopefully it won't be skipped during the 'reread'? or is this process not actually as it was described as a book being read in order and something else is happening. i was told to anticipate it a certain way and it didn't come out quite that way. so it makes a lot of sense people are reading these posts and faq and are still confused. we are reading 'if you started logging on x date your lists are coming back' and then seeing they aren't back despite having logged on x date, i don't think it's right to scold people for still being confused and asking for more clarification.

i posted a popcorn analogy in one of the comments earlier. maybe this will help you understand

This restoration process is not manual. It's like putting a popcorn bag (our manga data) into the microwave (the system running the data). We're all just waiting for the microwave to pop all kernels and go beep(aka add all mangas back). its taking a while because its only popping (aka restoring) them one by one.

the reason why it cant pop ALL kernels AT ONCE is because, imagine a single home microwave trying to cook 5 trucks of popcorn bags. increasing the microwave's temperature (aka increasing the restoration speed) wont cook all that volume. its physically impossible to fit everything inside and trying to do so would just make the microwave overheat (aka overload the servers which would cause site to go down again)

now why do we need to make several runs? notice that when we cook a popcorn bag, not all kernels pop the first time? we have to pour those unpopped kernels into another bowl and put back into the microwave to make sure they pop. thats why the system has to run multiple passes. its to catch what didnt pop (aka didnt restore correctly) during the previous run.

I hope this made it easier to understand and didnt confuse your further

Considering this site is FREE (and not you know…l3gal…) I really do think a lot of people are being unreasonable in their expectations. There’s a literal fuckton of information to be sorted, and it’s really very unimportant at the end of the day. Life really is too short to care this much about whether your manga list repopulates. I’m annoyed my lists are gone but it’s not like I’ve paid anything to use the site so I’ve never had expectations about how long it would last. I’m just getting frustrated with the forums now and not at the site.

ahh youre following the book analogy. if you read the FAQs, thats been mentioned there:

"If your lists are still completely EMPTY, there are 2 possible reasons:
One is that its about “activity”, not account age. So even if you joined in 2016, but you didnt add any manga until 2023, your list wont appear until the system reaches the timestamps for 2023. The second reason is, since the system is very busy right now, it sometimes hits a blurry page and has to skip to keep moving. This doesnt mean your data is gone. It just means the system needs to go back for a second run once the "main reading" is done"

the issue was they missed the "several runs" part which i clearly mentioned in all of my posts (FAQs, updates, answer commented, etc). They just expected that after we get to the most recent date then the whole restoration process is finished. thats why theyre confused

Thank you for keeping us updated suujin! If I am to be honest my hopes and dreams are so thin right now cus I have almost 0 restoration progress so far. I’m 100% confident that I started marking works since 2021 and none has come back. On top of that I heard from somewhere that our lists wouldn’t come back unless we added tags or rated them. If that’s truly the case then ig it makes sense for mine to have like no progress at all lol. I’m keeping my expectations rlly rlly low :((((

I’ve seen some people say that the devs won’t be able to retrieve lost marked mangas without tags or ratings and wanted to know your thoughts?

Unrelated to the issue but have you thought about using bookmarks instead of notes for where you’re up to? My bookmarks weren’t erased so I’ve been able to find a lot of stuff that way

I got one bookmarked story back from 2023; otherwise, I only see the stories I marked after they were deleted by the crash. How likely is it that I'll get everything else back and corrected? I haven't saved all of my 500+ stories yet, but if the chances of it being fixed are very slim, I'll start doing that.
I'm just glad that everything is working again on the site and hope I haven't forgotten to bookmark any stories and lost them.

It's hard to accept that

They aren't trying to bring back anything anymore, and it has nothing to do with inactivity of your account. Some memory disc crashed and they lost our data. Restored titles are the ones you tagged or rated and that's it. Only way for you to get your titles back is to manually add them to your lists again. And while doing that try to rate and tag them so if this happens again there's more chance for you to be able to get it back again. It's really unfortunate, but there's nothing else to be done ://

No, and there won't be the one. Only thing people got back are rated or tagged titles. Everything outside of that is lost and only way is for you to rebuild your lists. I started doing that like 3 months ago and everything works perfectly, just got lazy along the way and didn't add everything back

Thanks for the signal boosts for all these things, I hadn't even noticed my lists were gone till a few days ago when all my series just seemed to all stop giving notifications.

Seems I've stalled out at barely 1/3 of my series/lists, and seems the webdev has disabled adding of new items to the lists for now. Still prudent to wait a week or two before thinking something is amiss?

I'd hate to lose everything, I've been on mangago for.... forever it feels like lmao, so I'm still a bit anxious as I wait for the recovery.

welcome to dealing with computer hardware and software. be lucky we're getting anything back at all :) we only know that they were on the second pass as of thursday last week. if people would stop messing with their lists like they were told to. maybe the devs would be able to get their work done faster. as per the bot email you'll receive if you email them. it will tell you right now you'll only get tagged and marked ones back. and it's unknow if unmarked and untagged ones will come back at all. IF an unmarked or untagged ones slips through be thankful and lucky you

you marked it "Want to read, reading, read" without putting it on your lists first it's that row of 3 tags by the rating stars

My guess is that you marked titles you're thinking about as "reading" instead of "already read".

I know for sure I had "already read" mangas on my page before Jan 2021, I posted a comment on a manga in Feb after I had already been on the site for 4 months so I know 100% I put stuff into those categories as I was REALLY into reading, but so far im only seeing one appear on my feed :( trying to be patient but lowk scared LOL is there any reasoning for this?

i’m having the same issue as you, i know for sure i’ve marked stories the first day i created my account back in 2020. but only one manga has gotten added to my already read for now and my only guess is it’s because it was the first manga that i’ve rated whereas other stories that ive marked i used to not rated them at all. i might be wrong tho but that would be the only logical explanation as to why stories that ive marked before that one haven’t been added back

is this process of returning the series into the list a guaranteed process, or is there a room for error where some series fail to appear? if there's a room for error, will there be a way to fix it or anticipate it or do something about it?

i'm asking this bc i'm a bit worried lol. my list right now is stuck at 120, but i had a screenshot of my already read list at may 2021 being at 1911. aside from that, i have a screenshot of a series i've put on "already read" before april 2021 but it hasnt appeared in my list yet. however, previous to this case, i did notice that some series i added to my lists were somehow unmarked and i had to add it again... which i dont usually notice. i wonder if that affected this whole process and that my list's timeline is just fucked but all my series will return, or could there also be a problem with the system that is reading and returning our list? thank you, and i appreciate your work.

Hello!! I know for a fact i have had manga marked from before june 2021 (around 100 already read and 40 reading from a screenshot i found from april 2021) but nothing is back on my account. Click the three stripe, on your top banner, go to homepage and scroll to the pfp area, it will show on the buttom of.pfp near bio section. But the list will come according to the time you have added them in reas section not according to the time the account was created.

It's been two days and I still can only see 4 mangas in already read and I hade more then 100 marked as such also my reading and want to read are showing 0 and that is just not true. I hope it's resolved soon

So i wanted to point this out cause i noticed this between me and another user (and may be happening to others). Hello :) first of all, thank you for being one of the few people able to provide and share some form of update for the rest of us. It really puts us as some form of peace for a while :)

Two, my situation is this, i joined in 2017, in the past 3 days, only 1 manga have been added to the Already Read list on each day, making for a total of 3 mangas only now.
The first one was added in 2019, second was in 2020 and the latest one was in April 2021.

So that is the thing that is getting me worried again, that my mangas are only coming back one by one (although i hear the same thing from some other people so maybe it's okay??? Still sad tho..) and that the mangas i have added before 2019, like in 17' or 18' are still not here.
Provided that what you mentioned is true that they are going by when you added...

I had about 900+ in want to read. 1000+ in reading and 2000+ in already read. So that's why i am def, still nervous and wondering if everything will really come back.

I have seen some that are in the same position as me, only 1 manga back and some with a couple thousand back in already read and also in reading.

So i am writing this comment to partly ask you if you have any advice or insight for my situation. And also to put it out there for others as well to also let me know if they are in the same situation as me thanks, so i can feel more at ease and less alone/lost.

I have to admit that I was one click away from being one of those death/blind/illiterate idiots (according to @SharkVice lmao ) that was about to make a post about updates and notifications, BUT thankfully something told me to just read every single thing I can until I come across what looks to be an explanation and or pointing in the direction of where things are going and what’s been happening—WHICH I DID! No…it’s just that they haven’t started restoring any lists after 2021 yet. It will happen soon though and you will get your lists back.

Looks like it doesnt? Well for me at least. I had one manga ongoing from 2021, was on my currently reading and it was on already read and my comment was gone. I would believe it works the same way when ur done reading the manga and change the status, the comment goes away.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see, just bc it happened to me itll happen to others as well ;; just check it regularly though!

If your talking previous ones that aren't listed I'm just as lost as you. But, for the ones you see now or add in the future you'll click edit and look under the comment box and if it's blue with a check mark it's visible only to you.

Can confirm that rated ones are coming back first. I only ever rated if I loved or hated it and it seems my one star and five star ones have been restored. I didn't rate the thousand in between, but I'm confident they are coming.

They all go to already read btw. My already read mark was around 300ish, but now it’s 1k, so i’m guessing all of them will move to already read section..

Yes comments are there but what you're reading isn't. I've noticed my comments were visible, but if I looked at my account signed out on incognito or different browser my lists weren't visible.

The part of that relied on the dates since I'm very forgetful hopes that it doesn't matter, but the logical part of me believes they're gone since it wasn't visible for others.

Im trying to stay optimistic that my lists will come back, but nothing has shown on my account so far and its stressing me out since other people have been getting stuff back already (I made my account in September 2020, and I found proof that I've been adding to my list since at least October 2021). Im hoping that it will just take some more time and that I didn't screw anything up by adding to my lists :')

iirc, already read lsit will still get you updates. if you really wanna sort things out, just wait for them to come back, check the daily updates, then just pick the ones that u still wanna read atm hahhaa. for me, as long as i still get updates, im fine with not sorting them out. i got 2k+ and there's no way for me to sort them out lol

Hi, without realizing that my lists were gone, i recently changed my gmail to one i actively use, since the old one was one that i no longer used and couldn't access in gmail. I see that my mangas are still slowly being restored, but will this change in gmail affect it is some way? Should i change it back?

Guys I'm not trying to be rude, but instead of asking what date they're on now and being impatient, keep checking for updates yourself. They're working hard to restore things, the least we could do is be proactive and check ourselves instead of making them answer the same question over and over.

Also, for people saying they made their account on xyz, I'm pretty sure they said it doesn't matter WHEN your account was made but when your lists were starting to be added to, also it matters whether you rated them or not as they're starting with one of them first as far as I've seen in my own lists.

I seem to have issues with ratings as well, I rarely rate anything unless I really really like it, but now everything that has returned to my list so far is rated and I'm still missing a lot of manga that according to the updates should have returned already. I'm not sure if it's only returning rated manga and I 5 starred way more manga than I remember or if something else is up, but either way, something's off here :(

Does "marked" mean Rated with stars? 'Cause I saw some people saying they only got back the words they rated with stars but my dumb self rated like 10% of everything I read TwT (which was thousands of works)

I don’t think it will. I think this is more of by your account than your email. The email is just how you login and get any email info. The account itself has its own ID last time I checked

I have read the FAQs and it has stated that if the systems hits a blurry page it will just skip it and go back to try again, so does this mean if this is truly what has happened that I will have to wait longer for my lists to come back? to answer your question, the system should make several runs to load all data correctly. if after all of this whole restoration process (like in 2 weeks time from now) and you still notice errors on your marked mangas, send your concern to [email protected]

its better to write down notes of the things you observed now so you can send that in detail to the devs. if possible write a "diary" and record your actions/observations (include the time and date; use GMT time) like when you noticed the missing list, when the mangas started coming back and in what frequency/quanity/rate, are they rated mangas or non rated, did you do anything like re-add mangas etc. this will be helpful so that the devs can trace and try to replicate the actions you made, that way theyll be able to detect and diagnose the problem.

IMPORTANT: WHEN TO CONTACT SUPPORT
- PLEASE WAIT. Do not email the devs yet. The system needs to make several runs to load everyone's data correctly. Most of the current issues should fix themselves after the full restoration process is done. Give it at least 2 weeks from now.

If after everything finishes and youre still seeing clear errors in your marked mangas, report them to [email protected]

If possible, keep a small log of your observations and what you did:
⠀⠀⠀*when your account is made
⠀⠀⠀*roughly when you started adding mangas
⠀⠀⠀*when mangas started coming back for you
⠀⠀⠀*whether you re-added, edited, or deleted mangas during restoration
⠀⠀⠀*any repeated issues (random logouts, missing notifs, errors, etc.)
Simply put, keep a log of WHAT and WHEN (use GMT or if in your local time, specify your timezone). The more specific your report is, the easier it is for the devs to trace what went wrong. It helps them replicate your steps so they can actually find and diagnose the problem

I'd suggest waiting it out for now. Theyre not done with it all yet from what I know so it might be that some may be restored later on so you still have some around.

I know that I should wait, but I joined 2020 and started adding things since then. I'm a lil concerned seeing people who joined on 2023 are now getting their lists back and I have nothing on mine (except for the ones I panic-searched for when my lists disappeared). Are they restoring from recent to previous years? I dunno, I'm a lil anxious ehehehe

Hey so the update says it's starting with mangas marked on apr 2024 but the last one that appeared in my already read list is from 2021 and I definitely read in 2022 and 2023, but what I've noticed is the ones that I have are the ones that I did rate, so now I'm worried cus when I made my account back in 2020 I used to rate everything but after a while I stopped doing it, and I don't see the mangas I didn't rate, will they get back once they're done with the already read list?
I'm trying to stay calm because I know data and ui are a separate thing but still it's weird that only the rated mangas are appearing

None of my mangas have shown up yet. Is it because I didn’t rate them?

I don't think so? Mine are also still gone, even those rated ones so prolly doesn't matter

UPDATE: WHEN IS THE RESTORATION EXPECTED TO FINISH
- if theres another run, expect anywhere from a few extra hours to about one extra day. A full second pass could push it to Feb 4–5, but a partial cleanup run would likely finish around Feb 2–3.

We are still only on July 2024, not 2025 yet so there's a chance they more may pop up for you soon?

You already have 176 restored which is definitely not "nothing" like you said. thats should be a good sign and shows your accounts is already in the restoration process. Read the last section of the FAQs. It covers this already.

Soo, I wonder, when I go to my bookmarks to my whatever tag, all the mangas there are marked as “1969-12-31 23:00 marked”. Can this affect that I don’t get my bookmarks restored even though I for sure added them before 2024?

theyre just default error values and nope they dont affect the restoration process. since your tagged manga hasnt officially been restored to your list yet, the system doesnt have a proper "added date" for it so it shows the default date instead. when the restoration process reaches those manga entries, the correct dates will appear

My earliest mark already read is from 2021. But I’ve only gotten 8 back on my list. The newest one is from 2024. I know that my already read list was over 400 plus. If this normal? Or happening to others.

But that begs the question, did it started with already read list,reading,want to read or did it start from want to read, reading then already read?

As far as what I read in the FAQs there's a specific order.
Already read > Reading > Want to read
Some users will find their reading or want to read are in the already read list now (like in my case.) I'm sure something will be sorted after the initial restoration happens.

Yep it's happening to others but dw most of the current issues should fix themselves after the full restoration process is done

Ok my “already read” is slowly coming back.it’s already in 500. But does anyone know when will the other 2 lists come back? Because now it is not allowing me to add new books in my other 2 lists.
